440 Mililitres

Cans of this size irritate me.

Why must canned beer manafacturers temp us with their nice 500 ml cans and then when we're used to their brand of canned alcoholic beverage, irriate us with 440 ml cans.

The pint (567.something ml) is the perfect size for a drinking beverage. It is the perfect quantity. A litre, like many continental types take, is too large. Half a pint, or even worse, those 330 ml 'coke sized' cans Americans insist on drinking their beer out of is simply too small. But a pint. Thats perfect. It is as if god invented it himself.

I understand the constraints of the metric system on packaged beerages which is why, when available the 570 ml cans are indeed perfect, but even 500 ml, is bearable. Admitedly, over two shots of beer have been lost, but 500 ml is still respectable. It is within given leaway and will fit into a pint glass with the head taking up the rest of the space and can look quite respectable.

but 440 ml is too far. It is taking things to the limit. They come more in the multi-packs. It is sneaky. When you want to buy a single can, or a four or six pack, they're all 500 ml but as soon as you want a large pack, then its down to 440 ml when you're least expecting it.

Trains exploit this too. all cans you buy on trains seem to be 440 ml. Closed market you see. No competition doing bigger cans. Planes probably do the same or special service stations wheretheses no competition.

No, 440 ml should be outlawd! Outlawed I say. It is wrong. Give us 500 ml cans everywhere. I dont care if multipacks work out cheaper per litre than single 500 ml cans, it is a principle at state! Anyway. that is all I have to say on the matter. Am I the only one to get irritated by this?

So this is christmas
and what have you done?
another year over.
a new one just begun

And so this is christmas.
I hope you've had fun
The near and the dear ones
The old and the young.

A very merry christmas
And a happy new year
let's hope it's a good one
Without any fear

A so this is christmas
(War is over)
For weak and for poor
(If you want it)
The rich and the poor ones
(War is over)
The war is so long
(Now)

And so happy christmas
(war is over)
For black and for white)
(if you want it)
For yellow and red ones
(war is over)
Let's stop all the fight
(Now)

A very merry christmas
And a happy new year
Let's hope it's a good one
Without any fear.

And so this is christmas
(war is over)
And what have we done?
(if you want it?)
Another year over
(war is over)
And a new one just begun
(Now)

A very merry christmas
(war is over)
And we hope you'll have fun
(if you want it)
The near and the dear ones
