(no subject)

I posted this to MHP-Politics and thought some of you may be interested in it.

Am I the only one that finds it quite worrying that our news teams spend far, far more airtime and resources on covering presidential elections in the united states than on European general elections such as those in France and Germany.

Surely as EU members, the latter is far more significant for us and should be of more interest than the goings on on an unrelated continent several thousand miles away.

During the Gore/Bush elections the story was high ranking in the news for weeks before the election took place. Here we've only really heard about the German election now that it is poll night and it isn't even top priority - not even on BBC News Online which has always had a more international stance.

Most people probably didn't even know an election was taking place until today - even then a lot of people still probably don't know.

Is it me or is the preference to US affairs over European ones not a little worrying?
