The Fantastic Flying Books of Mr. Morris Lessmore

Before I stopped going to the cinema, animation had already become the one reliable quality genre, just as short films were ALWAYS so much better, so full of ideas never seen anywhere else, so much more creative, adventurous and inspired than feature films. Yet we hardly watch them, I certainly don't since I lost my TV ... except when J is in them, so I've seen quite a few lately :)

This short film surely must win the Oscar. Buster Keaton gets blown away by Hurricane Katrina into a reverse Land of Oz. Classic ideas, incl. antropomorphic books, meet with modern animation in order to promote humanism. I'm actually not that fond of the technical side of it, it's not that exciting visually (just perfect), but the levels it works on. It's simple yet hard to describe, just WATCH THIS:
