Silent Hill, not actually all that silent it turns out.

Lewi has come over to visit Lara (and us a little bit, but mostly Lara!) and he's teaching me how to play Silent Hill like the n00b I am. Which involves a lot of swearing at the screen when the monsters show up, insulting their mothers and sexual proclivities. (Turns out, when monster killing, I turn into a raging misogynistic who yells things at the screen like "die, you fucking whore beast from hell! FUCKING EAT MY BAT!" Which is... a little concerning for my inner mental state, I'm sure.)

I have discovered two things about this game so far. First that, oh my god, is there a shit load of walking around. Down streets, in buildings, walking walking walking gimme more monsters! (So I can panic.) And secondly, the protagonist that you play, James? A complete and utter walking Doesn't Deserve To Live. Oh, so stupid! So stupid! Let me count the ways.

I might understand all this if he were some super cool marine dude before coming to Silent Hill, but he was a regular freaking guy! He has no badassary excuses!

Also, at some angles, he looks like Edward Cullen. No one else seems to see this, but I do. I SEE IT. And it means my desire to help him remain alive is even less. Damn he and I being the same person!
Repo!: Giles will fuck you up

Zydrate comes in a little glass vial

I totally just showed my mum Repo! The Genetic Opera and she was totally enjoying it. Bwahaha. Score another to our team. (She's perhaps not converted as I doubt she'll ever watch it again, but she was interested and entertained.)

This means I've introduced every one of my friends to Repo and all of my parents! (All meaning mum, dad and my stepmum... who apparently didn't quite enjoy it so much. Heh.) Although I miss the forum days pre-movie, but just because I can't really keep up with stuff now because there's so many people and things there.

Noithing makes for a good night like a bottle of wine and Repo! and I am quite happily buzzed. Except no one else seems to be online to keep me entertained. You bastards.

Hahaha, mum just came back out and said "save me some pictures of that graverobber man and set one as my desktop... and I wouldn't mind if it was the Repo Giles either." She is SO caught.

Battle Circus

For the Amanda Palmer show in Wellginton we didn't get the Danger Ensemble as everyone else in the world did, as they stayed in Australia - but we did get a very awesome opening act called Battle Circus, a rock band from Auckland. Or, as their website says, Well, it's not quite rock, maybe metal/circus/baroque-esque psychedelic rock with Eastern-European influences.

I inbed videos now!

They were freaking sweet live. I'm not used to anything like this coming out of New Zealand. I stole a copy of their EP - The Half-Light Symphony - from Alina, and it is epic and post-apocalyptic and and the shortest song is nine minutes long.
