Ryan has taken to calling our black cat, Dutch, Dutchie the Pirate. I find this hilarious and now I call him Dutchie the Pirate. What an awesome nickname!

So, of course, I crudely turned him into a pirate in MS Paint.Collapse )

Today I did the baby sitting thing and was thoroughly annoyed every time he asked WHY?

We were talking about a blue pillow and he asked why it was blue. IDK, IT JUST IS. I just have no idea how to answer these questions. Or why is the crayon black? Umm...

But overall, he was pretty good. When I dropped him off, I went for sushi with Kimberly. We had a nice time. We somehow sat there for roughly two hours. Woah. I asked her if she could check on the kitties while we were gone and she said yes. YAY.

Then not much else happened. I've got to get my stuff together for leaving. I've got the kid again tomorrow, so I think we're going to clean around having him. Sweeping, de-cluttering, laundry, and cleaning out the fridge. Then I'm stopping by Nana's when I'm done with Ryan just to see her. Perhaps she will buy me some clothes?! Also with the leaving I have to organize a list of things I want to take with me and then cash some checks at the bank. I need money for coming back, you know.

I am so excited to leave! I only have tomorrow and Friday to get my stuff together. I can do that. But damn if I am not excited to be in Arkansas where it will be warm. I'm looking forward to thunderstorms, fishing, barbeque, catfish, and Mexican food. Also, the water park and the lake. Ohh, yes. And maybe a festival if I can find one.

I just love hanging out at his Nan and Pop's house. I love them. They're awesome. They live on a river and on a quiet road that we like to walk on in the mornings. I'm going to take my smaller camera and take LOTS AND LOTS of pictures this time.

AND SARAH. OH YEAH. We have a friend from high school (she's pretty much how the two of us are together) who lives in the Jonesboro area that I want to meet up with. She got married last year on July 7. 07/07/07. How cute. I hear she is expecting now, too!

Should I buy a sewing machine?

There is one at Target on sale for seventy dollars. It's a Singer, it has 34 stitch patterns, and comes with a DVD.

I have been wanting to learn to sew for a while. I don't exactly have the space for one. Well, at the moment, anyway. If we cleaned up one of the bedrooms, I could use that, and it wouldn't take a lot of work.

I have tons of thread for some reason. And I would have a heck of a lot of fun buying material.

When I was shopping with Diane, I was looking at throw pillows and couldn't believe how much they were. Wow.

I want to start with pillows and curtains and eventually start making slip covers and toys. I'm not really interested in sewing my own clothes, oddly. I might make a purse or something, though.

So... This is Woo.

And this one...

is not fond of him. I thought he would want to kill him at first, but he has since calmed down. He doesn't hiss and growl at him anymore, but he does still whap him on the head if he comes too close. But he's laying in my lap now. I think he might take a nap. I feel bad for him. :( He's my favorite. Heh. Nobody else knows that, though!

I don't know why we got this kitty. That's four. Ugh. I'm sure I'll get used to that idea some time soon, but as of now, I'm really regretting it. He's cute, though. And really fluffy.

I finally got my tea time necklace today. YAY.

I've been taking Ryan out to my dad's while I'm watching him. I don't remember if I've mentioned this. But since no one is around and they're crate training the puppy, I'm out there for her, too. It's about a half hour drive out there and Ryan fell asleep along the way. He was looking at a game manual. Ha. So, I thought it was cute and snapped a picture. He was drooling a little bit, but you can't see it.

This is in the party barn. I love it. Behind the table and stuff there is this cement bench that runs the entire length of the room. Also, on the right there is a bar. It's made out of old minnow tanks. They were out at Canoe Creek when my dad was running the boat rental and bait shop. I used to just stand there and watch all the little fishies swim around. There were hundreds of them.

Oh. This is a more close up picture of it.

This is from behind the bar.

This is behind the bar. There is a small fridge, a microwave, and a coffee pot. I just gave my dad an old crock pot for out there, too.

This is on the other side of that room. I love all the rock walls. Anyway, this is where there is pool, ping pong, and darts.

Matthew and I going to go grocery shopping. Thank gosh. I'm going to take advantage of this crockpot and make dinner in it tomorrow since I'll be gone all day again. I'm thinking... Jambalaya.

PUPPY [19 Jan 2008|08:54pm]
They can't decide on a name, but it's a little girl. Cindy's neice suggest Princess. Gag. Cindy likes Bailey and I think that's way too common of a dog name. I suggested Phoebe, but I think they're going to end up settling on Zoe.

she weighs 2.5 pounds.Collapse )

I was babysitting today and I brought Ryan over to my house for the day. Anything to get him away from those stupid videogames that they let him play all day, everyday. I made him something to eat instead of chips or some crappy frozen kids meal. He played with Matthew and had a lot of fun. When it was about time to leave, I asked him if he was ready to go and he said no. Haha.

Dutch also absolutely loved him. He followed Ryan around all day. He was very tolerant of him and liked playing with him. And when Ryan was actually sitting still, Dutch would lay with him. I got some pictures of the two together. They're kind of grainy, but I like them.

Some of these pictures are from Thanksgiving. I left my camera in Greencastle and never got it back till Christmas.

For Thanksgiving, I made pumpkin pie. This is the only one of three that turned out. I made another one right after this one and I forgot to add the eggs. I tried to make another when all my friends came over and we had dinner together and I remembered to add the eggs, but I forgot to add the Bisquick. Ugh.

I had this for breakfast Thanksgiving morning. Biscuits with sausage gravy and a glass of blueberry pomegranate juice.

There were grapes.

I didn't get a photo of Thanksgiving dinner. I had a salad with avocado, tomatoes, walnuts, bleu cheese, and bleu cheese dressing... Steak, twice baked potatoes, and asparagus/broccoli/cauliflower with hollandaise sauce.

I didn't get a lot of pictures for Christmas, either. I'm terrible and remembering to use my camera. It was even sitting beside me while we were opening gifts.

This is the kitty we found in our alley and gave to his parents. His name is Sammy and he's silly. Something apparently bit his paw, though, as it was all swollen and he was limping around.

Matthew and I went out to finish shopping and when we came out, this was in the sky. Cool. You can see his yellow car in that photo, too. We actually saw another rainbow on that trip on another day, too.

Um. The coolest thing I got was probably my ipod dock. Or my electric blanket! omg. Matthew bought me Coco Chanel. YAY.

...I just bought a really cute necklace online. I pretty much saw it and had to have it. I'm not usually so impulsive, but it was just way too cute not to get. And it wasn't too expensive for being one of a kind. 16 bucks total, including shipping.

I applied at the knickerbocker today. The person that took my app said that if I really wanted the job, I'd have to call and bug the shit out of them. Sigh. I'll be calling every afternoon.

So... I'm employed again. Finally. Thank goodness. I'm working at A.C. Moore again. I liked the people that worked there and it was pretty laid back. Awesome. I went in and was pretty much hired. Rich, the main manager guy, pretty much rambled on and on about how the company switched hands and is going under. This is very, very sad to me. He told me that a lot of things changed... And not for the better. They can't hire as many people and now they have a night crew. Nobody can custom order stuff anymore... The hours are all different. I was kind of upset about. However, I'm making $7.25/hr in stead of $7.15 because I worked there before. Haha. I wrote down $7.25 because I thought that was what minimum wage was. Oh, well.

New paragraph. I might get 15 hours a week. Maybe. And I'll be lucky if I can stay past January. Ugh. So I still have to look for jobs and I hate that. But I have a job now and that's pretty awesome. And it kind of sounds like I'll be working days and that would be amazing. I hate working in the evenings. And hopefully I'll have Saturdays off. That's the only day I get to see friends and have fun. Even without having a job that's how it worked.

In other news... We are fostering a kitty. He's orange and white and real cute. He used to have a collar on because his scruff is all... You can just tell he had one. He kept running into the house. It was cold and snowy and both of us are suckers for animals... So he's in the basement. The other kitties weren't very keen on him. He's got a bed, litter box, toys, and food. So... It's cool. He gets catnip, too. We put an ad in the paper about him but nobody has called. Blargh. We don't want four cats. Even if he is really cute and really friendly... No.

We're going to Matthew's parents' for Thanksgiving and I'm pretty excited about it. :) I like going there. Their house is nice and they have cable and stuff. And food! We have food, but I like to eat food that I didn't cook. I'm taking a pumpkin pie.

Sounds like Matthew is about ready to go. :)

I'm over at Nana's with Ryan at the moment. I just finished up some old black and white film on Ryan playing in a pile of leaves. I'm excited to get this film developed because it's almost four years old and I don't even remember what all is on it.

I found some pictures of the farm on the computer here and am going to share. I reallyreallyreally want to move out there by next summer. Like... Really bad.

Food and pictures [09 Aug 2007|07:47pm]
I've been eating deliciously lately. It all started when Kuhn got a real job and could only come by on weekends. We grill almost every Saturday now. The first one started with wonderful New York strips, grilled asparagus, corn on the cob, and big salads. Then a bunch of people came over and we grilled and also had corn on the cob and big salads. Then after that was a huge five pound pork loin stuffed with garlic cloves, corn on the cob, and grilled garlic toast. It has been a lot of fun.

I've also been doing my own cooking. One evening I made chicken breasts that we ate with some pasta tossed in olive oil, garlic, onions, tomatoes, and basil. I still had some chicken so I threw that in the oven with some olive oil, garlic, onion and parmesan. That was served with roasted vegetables... Potatoes, carrots, onion, asparagus, and onions all tossed with some olive oil, fresh cracked salt and pepper, and some balsamic.

Matthew and I had a lovely picnic a little while ago that involved some yummy tuna salad sandwiches with tomatoes on rye, good dill pickles, cheese cubes, grapes, and pretzels.

Last night I made salmon and asparagus. Before we ate that I had made some baked brie that I stuffed some garlic into. That was wonderful. I hadn't had that in a long time and was craving it. We also had strawberries.

Lunch today. Tuna salad on an onion bagel. I put some parmesan on it and a tomato. It was good.

[17 Jul 2007|10:28pm]
Saturday was a good day. I don't know how it happened, but we all decided we should have a little barbeque. So Matthew and Kuhn set out to purchase things and I prepared at home. While they were out I hard boiled some eggs for salads, made iced tea, and ice. They returned with three new york strips, lemonade, lemons, and limes... And I think that's it. I already had some ears of corn and Kuhn brought over asparagus. So our meals consisted of salads that were lettuce, eggs, onion, tomato, carrots, cucumbers, little shrimpies, and shredded cheese... hearty delicious steaks (a little over done, but still nice and pink inside), grilled asparagus with lime butter sauce and corn on the cob with garlic butter. Everything was so good. Later on that evening I made ginger cupcakes with lime buttercream icing. Oh. We also drank real whiskey sours. That's what the lemons and limes were for. With Jack Daniels Green Label. Yum.

I babysat my nephew this past week. It was pretty easy. He's a good kid. Any time I wanted him to leave me alone I'd just start playing his Transformers game and he'd insist that it was his four year old game and I was not allowed to play. I also took him to see Nana and Pap.

I saw Harry Potter and lovedloved it. I should be able to finish the sixth book by Saturday.

I need to fill out an application for the Knickerbocker and another one to get back into school. I don't want to go to school at all. Blah.

I went to DC on the fourth. That was a lot of fun. Saw a friend of our from school who is stationed at Fort Meyer. That's what made it so fun. Lots of laughing involved. I also did a ton of walking and that was nice... Other than the sore feet. I want to go somewhere again. Just thinking about it made me sad.

Matthew is selling his Jetta because he bought the Rabbi's 20th Anniversary GTI. He's incredibly happy with it. I just need to get on getting it sold.

I plan on getting a tattoo before school starts. Yup. Or shortly after.

I'm going to watch Scrubs now.

[24 Jun 2007|06:45pm]
Yesterday was my birthday and I got a lot of stuff.

My dad got me a huge bag of books. The 4-Hour Workweek, There's A Business in Every Woman, 100 Strangest Mysteries, The Great Philosophers, The Great Scientists, The Rules of Money, and The Keys of This Blood... That one is about the pope? I'm not sure why he got me that, but it's cool. He also gave me a $50 gift card for Barnes & Noble. Excellent.

Matthew got me a nice pair of sandals and a Harry Connick, Jr. CD. Yeah... Again, not sure what he was thinking about that one? I mentioned I liked one song by him when we first started dating and when he buys me music stuff, it's always him? Hahaha. He knows I like Rufus Wainwright and that he has a new CD out... Oh, well. Ohhh... This was my favorite... When we were at the bar the first time, he was messing with the jukebox with Duey and he picked An Evening in Roma/Dean Martin for me. That's my favorite Dino song.

My nana got me ugly clothes... No surprise. And a lemon-lavender Yankee candle. Loves it. And a pretty glass candle thingy with a little citrus sage votive. She scrapbooked together for me a cookbook which I think is excellent... A date book/organizer. And a rug... Because we had a huge leak in the dining room and the hardwood floors are all warped. When it was rolled up, we had it leaning against the wall and Dutch scaled it to the top. That was pretty funny. Then both of them played on it all evening. Oh, and a Tracfone because I nevereverever use my cell phone and this should be cheaper.

My aunt got me a new house phone!! It has an answering machine and three extra phones I can plug in around the house. Awesome. And a laundry separater. Cool.

Kim Rose paid for a manicure and pedicure. :D My fingers and toes are pretty now.

Went to the bar... Twice. At midnight and then in the evening. Fun stuff. I went to the liquor store and bought honey bourbon. It was like SoCo... And I don't like SoCo. I don't know what I was thinking. Most of it is gone now.

I'm going to make dinner soon... I don't do this near as often as I'd like. I should cook with Kim or Kuhn or both together some time. It will involve chicken breasts with some sort of Italian cheese, basil, tomato... Angel hair pasta tossed with olive oil, herbs, and diced tomatoes, cucumber salad, and a blueberry desert that involves a gingersnap crust and vanilla ice cream. Yum.

[06 Jun 2007|10:13pm]
I've got so many ideas running through my head.

My 21st is coming up. Should I hang around Altoona or should we go to State College? State College would probably be a lot more fun.

The Fourth is also coming up. I either want to go to Busch Gardens or DC. I'm thinking DC and then maybe hit Busch Gardens while we're in the area either before or after the Fourth. However it works out, I want to go to Busch Gardens.

Arkansas... In July? Hopefully. Drive or take a plane? I don't know.

There is an Eastern Market or something every Saturday down in DC... I want to go to this some time in the next few weeks. I'd also like to hit up the farmer's market in State College. There is a farmer's market tomorrow in downtown that I'll have to go to.

I'm growing tomatoes and they're coming along nicely.

So... That's what my next month-ish looks like. Birthday, DC, Busch Gardens, farmer's markets, and Arkansas.

Midas might need a name change because Midas might be a girl.

I realize very few read this, but I ask your assistance by giving your opinion on the three I've narrowed it down to.

I love them all, Matthew likes Fifi, and Kuhn said he liked Olive.
