Kitty Manicure Dec. 5th, 2006 @ 05:27 am
My kitty, Kitty, who might be pregnant has to wear nail caps, so as not to shred our belongings. We love Soft Paws. While we usually go with clear, I couldn't resist the red when I saw them...

» Dear Neighbor,
Dear Neighbor,
Please stop backing into my recycling bins. And knocking them over. With glass bottles that break inside. That I have to pick up.

Hey, while your at the not-backing-into-stuff thing, please also stop backing into our mailbox. While it is a rough and tough rubbermaid one, it comes in pieces and we are tired of fixing it.

Thank you for your immediate attention to this matter,

» Remember me?
I'm so sorry for the lack of posting. It's been a rough week for me. My son had surgery for Meckel's diverticulitis.

He woke up late Wednesday night vomiting and with stomach pain. Assuming that it was just a little stomach bug I settled him in on the couch with his "sick blanket" and looked forward to a day off of work the next day. He continued vomiting and when I became concerned about dehydration, I took him to the hospital. We waited for 2 hours and were then given an IV for the dehydration and they ordered a CT scan to rule out appendicitis. When the results came back my whole world started spinning. The doctor came over and kneeled in front of me (did I mention that this whole time we're in a hallway, we weren't even in a room) and said "I've ordered an ambulance and they should be here within 5 minitues." (I'm thinking why do I need an ambulance, we're already here.) He explained the "mass" in his abdomen and that they weren't equipped to handle it there, and we'd be going to another hospital.

We were taken by ambulance to the new hospital and I could not believe the amount of people that just ignored the lights and sirens. I always got totally out of the way, but I'll be even more mindfull now. The doctor came in and we went over his symptoms and possible treatment methods. It could have just be food poisoning. It could have been as bad as, well, don't want to think about that. Then we went over the surgery. During all of this we were discusing his prior history and I'm throwing around my limited medical knowledge. When the doctor said that he'd start laproscopicly I turned and explained that to my husband and the doctor asked me if I was a nurse, to which my husband replied "No, she watches e/r.", to which the doctor says "No, but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night!" (pause for laugh, that really did relieve some of my tension)

Within the hour, they were operating and Phil and I sat in silence in the early hours of the morning. At 1am they came out and told us that it was a complete success and that he'd be fine. Phil had to go home since only one parent could stay the night and I had the honor of trying to sleep semi upright with the half hourly iv/vital checks and lights. It was a long couple of days, but there was one little bit of excitement...

I have received my final package BUT I DON'T KNOW YOUR JOURNAL NAME!!!
My pal sent a stupendous box with Cafe du Monde Beignet mix... I've had this before but didn't really know how to cook well then and totally burned them , so this Saturday, we shall have beignets and think of you! (whomever you are!) I also got two big balls of Patons Classic Wool in white and a bunch of packets of brightly colored KoolAid!! I will so be having fun this weekend! I also got a cute pack of super sticky post its and a fabulous kitty tape measure (in honor of my kitty)as well as one of the things you put on your fridge to write lists on. How on earth could she have known I had that on my list to buy this weekend!? There are the awesome knit related note cards that will totally be too cute to actually use, how could I part with them!? And finally there is a truly lovely recipe book that I can keep everything together in. Danielle (hello.... user name!?) everytime I use it I will think of you. Can't wait to add you to my friends list WHEN YOU TELL ME YOUR LJNAME!!!:)

Still don't know who you are!Collapse )

TIP : don't ever wear capris and not shave your legs and assume that no one will notice, especially if you have an ankle tattoo and are wearing ankle strap shoes that "highlight" said tattoo... when hot ups guy comes in and sits boxes at your feet, he's bound to notice and stare at it(and the aforementioned hair on aforementioned leg).

...just sayin.

I'm taking a break from all the store sample knitting to knit a baby blanket for one of my neices.... 3 years old screams brights and washable, so I'm using Caron Simply Soft in the bright line. Size 6 circs and the logcabin pattern from Mason Dixon Knitting (browsed at Barnes and Noble yesterday). I can't tell you how addictive this is, just knit, knit, knit! Not even any counting! These colors represent 6 of the 7 in the blanket, the other is a bit of a periwinkle.... Since I will actually be making two blankets (Ani is 3 and Celia is 1)this one will spiral in the color sequence set and the next one will have the "citrus" tones on one diagonal side and the "ocean" tones on the other.

beware brights!Collapse )
» August 31st
August 31st is a bit of a joke in my family. Four years ago I got off work and really, really had to pee and decided to wait until I got home, which was 20 minutes away. I left my job at the construction site and headed home. Now I had been there for about 3 weeks and everyday I got up and put my slightly longer than chin length hair into a pony tail and clipped on this ridiculously expensive little flippy hair piece. It was fabulous! And easy. So I get off work and unclip the little flippy thing and have remarkably shorter hair pulled into a barely one inch long pony tail. I'm stopped at a stoplight when WHAM! a car slams into the back of me, propelling me into the car in front of me, and him into the car in front of him. I turn (um ow, whiplash!) to see the car that hit me back up and pull into the gas station along side the highway and I (naievely) think, "hmm are we supposed to pull out of the lane of traffic" when I see him continue going. And going. I was hit by a hit and run driver. I had whip lash. And I still had to pee. I did have my seatbelt on and what a number it did on my sternum. He hit me doing about 45 miles per hour. Two hours later when I was cleared from any neck injury at the hospital the nurses let me pee and said they were surprised that I didn't pee my pants. I didn't know whether or not to be offended but she said that because of the position of the lap belt across your abdomen it just "squeezes it right out of you!" but I didn't. MORAL OF THE STORY: Go to the bathroom before you get in the car. So I still had whiplash. Mind you this means I'm flat on my back with pain pills because they wouldn't give me a neckbrace, saying I'd rely on it too much and I needed to build up my neck muscles. So, this is Labor Day Weekend, which also happens to be the weekend of my Anniversary, Sept 2nd. Flat on my back mind you, and not in a good way ;-) Oh, because the new young very cute in a totally young way- Ligistics guy from my office goes home the same way I do, he passes by the accident and stops. This guy and I work in a medium sized office in a double wide trailer on a construction site (more about guys attitudes on construction sites where they are FORCED to work with (gasp!) women in another post). So mind you I've removed my cute little flippy hair piece and thrown it onto the passenger seat. As I'm on the stretcher being loaded into the ambulance I remember my purse in the car and ask Matt, (Ligistics guy) to get it for me. AND MY HAIR IS ON THE SEAT. I'm sure that I looked like the biggest freak in the world. So second MORAL OF THE STORY: leave your hair on until you get home!

So that kinda blows that one out of the water. It was our 8th anniversary for those keeping track.

Fast forward two years to August 31, 2004. I'm at work (different work, different state). I'm at the grocery store getting cream for the coffee. I'm driving through the parking lot of a strip mall when all of a sudden WHAM!!! a car plows into the side of me, only this time, I saw it coming and I tensed up. While this one wasn't going so fast (maybe 20 mph), I was hit sideways and jerked all over the place. SAME DAY PEOPLE. Two days before my TENTH ANNIVERSARY. I don't even remember that night, the ultracet and some other wonderful pill that made me sane have erased it form memory. I do know that I got a Salt Cellar from Alton Brown (by way of my husband). Now I'm a tough chick (not really) but this accident left me all kinds of messed up. I had pain and numbness in my arms and hands, a headache for 2 months straight, no, I'm not exaggerating. Seven months of physical threapy later (four time a week of awesome neck to waist back massages later!) I was better, but I still have pain in my shoulder. No bathroom accidents, yay.

Fast forward two years, to today. Know what happened on the way home from work.

I bought a new pair of Crocs, in black. That was it. No accidents, potty or otherwise! It will be a good anniversary this year. For those who have made it this far, kudos to you and remember: Always go potty before you get in the car!
» More store knitting.
Yesterday was the trip back to Knit Wit to turn in my knitted bits and get the next round of stuff.... Looks like I'm to finish the Noni Bobble bag and we're finished with those. Two felted hats and a diaper bag along with a pair of legwarmers and a few pair of Tempting handwarmers are up next.
Looooots of photosCollapse )
Looks like I have my work cut out for me!
» I'm so sorry.
I haven't disappeared, I'm sorry for the, well disappearance. I need to find a way to post from work. I know how to do it, I just want to give it a couple of weeks before I totally blow off responsibility there.

I've been knitting Noni bags. Still. Shop models. I may line and zipper this one so it looks , well, right... it needs it because of the length and size of the opening. On to the pictures.
