Comments: Yesterday I went to the Borders in Chadstone. I went down to your magazine section and was puzzled to find Tattoo publications under the 'Mens Magazines' section. And said Tattoo mags mixed in with pornographic magazines. I'm not sure why this is and when I approached a staff member they were unable to explain. They said it may be because parents don't want their kids looking at these magazines... but she wasn't too sure. I said that I found it pretty bizarre and that I would forward an email via the website (so here i am)
Now I can understand having tattoo magazines up high out of kids hands but don't really fathom why in with Men's Mags? I have no problems with pornography but by putting these magazines in amongst Penthouse etc you're mixing taboo's and likening tattoos to porn basically.
You are also assuming only men buy tattoo magazines which as a proud member of the ink wearing community I do find a bit offensive. You will find quite a number of women have lots of ink and may possibly be more inclined to purchase magazines than men. There is a lot of stigma attached to both porn and tattoos however I think putting them together under a section entitled 'Mens Magazines' is kind of misguided.
