Today is known to some as the Day of Infamy, in commemoration of what happened at Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941. In your lifetime, what date sticks out as the most memorable in terms of world events?
Of course, for almost everyone in my generation, it was 9/11. But it wasn't because I immediately became a bucket of patriotism, it is the fact that everyone else was just losing it. I was in 7th grade. I had just moved to VA so my mom and I were still living in a hotel. I was pissed off that day because I was supposed to go roller blading that night. When mom picks me up, she is freaking out. I clearly remember that night going to see Planet of the Apes at the dollar theater just to get our minds off everything. It is just that course of action that happened that sticks out to me. Everything is going crazy and I'm pissed about roller blading and I'm off to see a movie. Like I said before, I'm not a bucket of patriotism, never have been and never will be. So being a part of the epic freak out that occurred in this country seems like something important, even though I probably was not one of the ones freaking out.
