I Fall So Hard
November 8th, 2005 02:48 am

I finally have some good news. I had to take a mid-term for a statistics class that I take online. It's rather complicated to me, even though I like math and logic, and I really crammed the night before. Anyway, I walked away with my brain like mush. I really felt sad, because I studied/crammed pretty hard. I was just praying I'd get a B, because there was a chance I failed...

Anyway, I looked (after a quick prayer) and I got a 93! Talk about a shocker. I know my prof curved that sucker, but I am so happy. I just hope I can get the concepts. :) Yay!

Thanks to the lovely and beautiful carina87, I have two wonderful headers. However, I have no idea about layouts! I like the S2 system (component- I love how clean it looks!), because you can personalize the choices easily. However, and I realize this is a stupid, stupid question, but can you use Component and a header? And if so, how? I spent like an hour on my layout, only to realize I have no idea how to insert a header with S2. Sigh....

I have another question, my dear LJ friends (I do really love you!). Can you change the S2 Component navigation links. I currently have a bar with entries, friends, website, etc. Is there a way to add or take out some of those? Where is that? LOL! I feel like a freaking grandma trying to figure this junk out. :)

Just out of curiousity, those of you with paid accounts/headers, what layout do you use/like? Did you code it yourself or just provide some overrides. I'm so clueless...

Eta: Thanks to the wonderful meredith44 and component_help, the crisis has been averted. Lol! I might just enter the twenty-first century of LJ yet. Or at least the 20th....

Between Making the Band 3 and ANTM, I fulfill all my reality needs to be twenty again and have aspiring dreams to be a singer/ entertainer/ model. Thank God for that! As mad I get at Diddy (for not making the band last season and the lack of any real news about an actual band) and Tyra (for cutting people that can model like Kyle), I just can't get enough of these shows. It's like a car wreck. I just can't look away...

Wow! What's the deal with the sexual tension between the new detective and the young, hot guy? I don't watch the show that often, but they'd be hot together. Okay, I'm a sucker for love! :)

In other news, I thought my dog ran away for the second time this month. Luckily, he was just curious about our garden. My sister had the nerve to say after he ran away that he's not my baby anymore. Yeah, right!

Spoilers for WAT! You've been warned...Collapse )

Go here and choose the following.....

1. One that makes you automatically think of me.
2. One that you think I should TOTALLY use more often.
3. One that you don't get/needs more explanation/you have no idea why the hell I have it.

Does anyone know if http://www.sweetembrace.net is just renovating or is it non-existent? I hope the former is the true version! I miss the best Sam/Martin hub ever!

I tend to think that most worries in the news mostly pan out to be a bunch of... nothing. Michael Crichton's book, State of Fear, presents this point rather eloquently in lieu of global warming, which science hasn't proven to be true. In fact, the evidence he uses for the book shows that it isn't true. Funny, how the media begs to differ...

Eventually, I prove a point that may be true or not about Avian FluCollapse )

I don't know why I keep reading these stories, as I wind up in tears, but someone should care about this:

Snagged from Dan at RWV.com:

Pet Lovers Corner - Unfortunately

I'm afraid this isn't a warm fuzzy post. Actually, it's rather disturbing and several images are very graphic. A reader sent in a link to a Live Journal site with images of several dogs which were said to have been shot while housed in a Middle school post Katrina.

I didn't know what to make of it, so I Googled and did find a supporting news story here.

But there's also another rather bizarre twist. If you go to the live journal page and scroll down to the fifth image, there's a sex toy sitting on the landing of the middle school. WTF? I'd like to see some amateur sleuth figure that one out. I sure can't.

Please, take the time to sign the petition. Who knows if it will work, but not doing anything won't work either! A video link to CNN reporting the story is here. Here's some more news:

-There was actually another school with dogs shot, too.
-Some good news is that an animal agency is offering a reward of $10,000 for infomation leading to the conviction of the individuals that committed these heinous crimes. Sadly, though, there were more dogs shot at the NOLA stadium. The Pasado Animal Resue is the only agency looking into this crime and offering a reward.
-The dogs were shot in the body, not the head, which is a very cruel way to put an animal out of misery. Therefore, the animals suffered before dying. Bastards!
-One pregnant dog did manage to escape death. She and her puppies are okay. :)

Type "[Your name] needs" (with quotation marks) into Google, then turn the first ten results into a poll.

Boy, are these interesting answers. I don't know what some of this means, but it sounds dirty.

Poll #586578 Erin Needs

Erin Needs

what most white girls crave.
that nurturing, too, since she has gone so long without it.
to understand that people don't like to see a pretty white girl with rap talent that would run circles around sir mix a lot succeed in today's ......
to decide if she should try to work things out with her very hot husband, or get it on with the very hot neighbor.
to earn $15000, fast, to launch a child custody battle.
platelets on a regular basis to thicken her blood.
a break.
is love, a lot of love, a lot of love.
to understand the times surrounding its composition.
to "rotate" to signal Joey at his cousin's house.

Funny, how the Erin's of the world need "to understand." What are the odds? ;)

Guess that Friend

I suck! Here are my results:

Game over.
Learn anything?
That's right...
I make a lot of coding istakes.

Well, let me break it down for you:

You have a total of 59 friends
You requested to guess 10 entries.
None was skipped due to invalid content (surprising?).
You made 10 guesses.
You got 7 correct.
Doing the math for you, that means you got 70% correct.

Taken from http://www.riehlworldview.com:

Please Don't Look
If you are an animal lover, especially a dog lover - you might not want to look at this story. I wasn't even going to link it until I discovered a link to a petition by the Brits to try and have the practice stopped by the French.

Hundreds of readers contacted us to express their outrage after we revealed that live dogs were being used as shark bait off the coast of the French-controlled Reunion Island near Mauritius.

And tens of thousands of readers responded to our call to sign the petition on the RSPCA's website.

A massive 43,700 people signed the petition online, a response the RSPCA said was "unprecedented".

If anyone knows of an animal focused site, or animal rescue site willing to undertake a petition in the US, please let me know.

Apparently, this might be a urban legend... to an extent. But let's not leave it to chance! Please just go ahead and sign, okay? That way we can possibly ensure that it might not happen in the future. :)

It was a pretty good episode, I guess. Not as much love and angst, as I would have liked, but I am rather demanding. It was basically about a kid named Ryan that goes missing. He's a genius, a pretty cute kid, but he's betrayed by his best friend. What makes his case a little controversial is that he witnessed 9/11 in NYC. So, he doesn't agree that the World Towers should be built. His best friend makes some new friends, pushes Ryan in the cafeteria, and the problem between them escalates into the best friend with his new buddies electrocuting Ryan to get him to reveal where the bomb they built for a project that he planted in the school to set them up really is. I still found Ryan to be a really sympathetic character.

What I love about the show, though, is the underlying story. Especially between Martin and Sam. The moment where she sees that he's finally back to work is poignant and full of underlying meaning. She says he looks good, he returns the favor, they embrace (or did they embrace first and then exchange words?), and then she notices the cane. Martin makes a quip about leaving his top hat in the car. Cute line to break the tension. Jack seems almost guilty around Martin in the beginning of the eppy and the end, like he feels he failed him. I'm sure Director Fitzy didn't help the situation last eppy either. Interestingly enough, Martin is the only one that Jack confesses to about getting a new agent for the team. At least, on-screen, that is. Danny is acting guilty, too, but about not visiting his friend. The IT guy says it's impressive that Martin made it back to work after 6 weeks, with all the damage he had, and he says something about, "I had good nurses." Hmmm... I hope not, Mister! Martin only grimaces once, before he notices Danny at the door. Danny notices, with probably only adds to his guilt, which is sad.

Danny seems to have a death wish this season. Ryan has the detonator to the bomb in his hand, and Danny moves to get him. Luckily, the detonator fails. Jack pushes Danny at the end of the episode about how he isn't going to let a self-destructive member on the team. Jack also tells him that Ryan has to live with knowing he pushed the detonator, and so does Danny, making both of their lives hell. The last episode, Danny basically taunted the killers into coming after him. Sometimes, though, that's a normal reaction to staring death in the face. Like, you couldn't break me, so maybe I am invincible. I hope Danny works out his demons...

Vivian very well might be making an exit soon. She's back for a week after her surgery, and basically tells Jack to give her some work. He doesn't exactly comply, but tells her that the IT guys have the computer. Without waiting for Jack's permission, she takes off. I can understand Vivian being pissed, as well as her real-life counterpart.

Scenes for next week look exciting! The new agent is a Latin beauty with a Spanish accent. She is a very strong-looking beauty. A perfect foil to Samantha Spade. Both women play prostitutes undercover. Interesting prospect, although I prefer female/male personally. But it's a little funny to see Samantha Spade, who's a raging man lover, pretend to be bi-. For part of the case, Martin and Sam are paired up. She's reading off the details to him as they walk from the car. He looks so sad with the cane! I want to take care of him, okay? :)

Spoilers below! Beware, all who lurk here...Collapse )
