Me: I've always been a firm believer that the quickest way to a man's heart is through his sternum - or barring that through the stomach.
Emm: I've always thought it was through the zipper, but I cook ok...
So we had our usual Friday afternoon student meeting and I was surprised to find that my friends had brought a chocolate cheesecake to work for me! I'm surprised they remembered that cheesecake is my favourite cake. Apparently I'm the oldest of the group - which makes me the old man.
The service for my uncle is this Tuesday - I think I'll be giving the eulogy.
I spent New Years' eve at my friend Jamie's. I had a drinking contest with his uncle - so it was kind of an Irish vs English pride thing. We started at 6 in the afternoon. Jamie and I watched BSG until the ball dropped - at least that's what he tells me we did. I don't actually remember watching any BSG and I certainly don't remember the ball dropping in Time Square. I guess his uncle and I both passed out so its hard to declare a winner. What a way to bring in the New Year - by not remembering the final hours of the last year. Anywho, I'll have to come up with some resolutions soon.
The Sarnia Sting hockey team was just mentioned on The Steven Colbert Report!.
I dressed as Santa and walked through the clinic handing out candy canes today. Heidi dressed as Mrs Clause and we got a volunteer to follow us while playing carols on the accordion. The costume was a cheap dollar-store version that was in pretty bad shape by the end - but what do you expect for a buck. Anyways, there are a couple pics of me dressed up.
Just one more week in CT and I'm finished clinical for the year. I'm off from the 22nd to the 9th.
A plenteous place is Ireland for hospitable cheer...
Where the wholesome fruit is bursting from the yellow barley ear...
There is honey in the trees where her misty vales expand,
And her forest paths in summer are by falling waters fann'd,
There is dew at high noontide there, and springs i' the yellow sand,
On the fair hills of holy Ireland.
- Sir Samuel Ferguson
May your neighbors respect you,
Troubles neglect you,
The angels protect you,
And Heaven accept you.
May you be in
Heaven a half hour before the
Devil knows you're dead!
May the Irish hills caress you.
May her lakes and rivers bless you.
May the luck of the Irish enfold you.
May the blessings of Saint Patrick behold you.
May you have:
A world of wishes at your command
God and his angels close at hand
Friends and family their love impart,
And Irish blessings in you heart.
May God grant you many years to live,
For sure he must be knowing
The earth has angels all too few
And Heaven is overflowing.
May you live to be a hundred years
With one extra year to repent.
Leprechauns, castles, good luck and laughter
Lullabies, dreams, and love ever after.
Poems and songs with pipes and drums
A thousand welcomes when anyone comes.
That's the Irish for you!
These things I warmly wish to you-
Someone to love
Some work to do
A bit o' sun
A bit o' cheer
And a guardian angel always near.
There are many good reasons for drinking,
One has just entered my head.
If a man doesn't drink when he's living,
How in the hell can he drink when he's dead?
XD We're Irish... we don't need a reason to drink!
Happy St Patrick's Day everyone
