kibbo kift - war won't work

(no subject)

Anti-war meme from caerwynx, viamrghoul and lillassea . If you see this, post the lyrics to an anti-war song in your journal.

EDIT:
I noticed that all the lyrics I chose were from the English in the World Wars. Yes, I know that we Americans have been in wars, too, and that we have a rich tradition of anti-war songs, but I chose these for two reasons: first, the particular songs were the first anti-war songs to actually move me, and so I pay homage; second, they are bitingly melancholy in a way that American songs rarely are -- remember, WWI/II was supposed to be "the Good War(s)", full of noble rhetoric, high ideals, and in defense of the homeland. The futility of war seems more poignant when reflected in the Great War than in imperialist interventions in far-away countries. It's too easy to rally against Vietnam; lamenting the War to end all war strikes closer to the root, IMO.

Happy Almost-Slut
Whoa! You scored 22 Sluttiness Points and 20 Ethics Points! Interesting...
It's clear that you're at least a bit sex positive but you may still have some hang-ups about the whole consensual nonmonogamy thing. I know, it can be difficult to step out into new things. No one says you have to but it may open new worlds to you if you try something that seems a little bit outside your usual cup-of-tea. Just keep treating yourself and others with respect and you can't go wrong.

My test tracked 2 variables How you compared to other people your age and gender:

free online dating free online dating
You scored higher than 34% on Sluttiness

free online dating free online dating
You scored higher than 63% on Ethics

meme yanked from chronarchy

Well, I guess since I answered chronarchy's meme, it's part of the bargain that I should post this in my LJ:

If you had me alone...locked up in your house for twenty-four hours and I had to do whatever you wanted me to, what would you do with me?

All replies will be permanently screened because it's a secret.

Then repost this in your LJ.

You might be surprised with the responses you get.

Guilt
What is yours?
Explain yourself
Culinary: Tornados Take a stick of pepper-jack cheese; wrap it in a thin crust; season and fry it; let it rotate for hours at your local Speedway/SuperAmerica.
Literary: unfinished books I typically read 5 to 10 books at a time... I get easily distracted and forget to finish them before picking up another.
Audiovisual: abstract expressionism Rothko and Pollack: is it art or is it Sherwin-Williams? I don't care. I'm still moved by the color and texture.
Musical: Morrissey I don't know if people really hate Morrissey that much or if they just love to hate him when I'm around, but it seems that often I have to hide my love away.
Celebrity: ??? I don't usually get into celebrities anyway and I'm having a hard time finding any that I would consider a guilt, so I'll pass.

What philosophy do you follow? (v1.03)
created with QuizFarm.com

Both Nihilism and Divine Command are cop-outs -- pretending that you can escape choice and agency.

If Hedonism is a sloppy label for a philosophy more accurately described as Epicureanism, I'd agree with it coming in number two. Hedonism itself is understandable but short-sighted, IMO (which still makes it more reasonable than Nihilism or Divine Command).
