six's sexy legs

We just had a near-life experience!

[personal profile] bingeling and I had a great time in Birmingham last weekend!

Simon Amstell's show Numb was fantastic! I laughed so much and he's just adorable. (And Bing spent the whole weekend flailing! Heh!) He started the show twice, because there were some random people who didn't make it back in time to their seats after the break (there was some other comedian before Simon).

Great, great show and I'm so hoping that it'll come out on DVD! Waaant! Also, the program is so pretty, but stupidly enough I didn't buy one. And when I wanted to get it after the show they were sold out. Woe! I might have to get it online, but it's more expensive.

On Friday, while we were trying to make our way to our hotel (OMG! We so suck at geography! At least we were better on Saturday. /o\) we saw infos about delayed traffic because of Birmingham Pride on Saturday.

Hah! Birmingham Pride! Perfectly timed weekend in Birmingham!

That's what we did on Saturday. We went to the Pride area and watched the Pride Parade! Awesome! :D And after that we walked around (lots of canals in Birmingham, so pretty!), went to a museum, had dinner at Wagamama (so, so delicious), and went back to the hotel.

Sunday morning we already went back home! Woe!

The trip home wasn't that great, because the plane from Birmingham landed late and I had not much time in Frankfurt to get to the other terminal for my other flight home. And I had to get through passport control and security again. I barely made it!

I wanted to post a few pictures of the trip, but the underscores in my LJ user name prevent me from seeing/accessing any of my pictures on the new scrapbook. :(

The time to relax is -- when you don't have time for it.

Tomorrow morning I'm flying to Birmingham (via Frankfurt) with the lovely [personal profile] bingeling for the weekend! Yes! I'm going away again! It will be the last time for quite some time, I think. While this past 1 1/2 months with all the travelling (Camp Sparkle, Fedcon, now Birmingham) was fun, it was also exhausting.

Anyway, the main reason we're going to Birmingham is because we're going to Simon Amstell's stand up comedy show tomorrow night! Wheee!!!

We're spending Saturday doing stuff in Birmingham. We don't know yet what we're going to do, but I'm sure we'll figure it out. We're going to bei spontaneous! :D

And Sunday morning we're flying back home! Short trip, hopefully with lots of awesome! :D

If you have suggestions on what we could do in Birmingham or if you're there let me know! (I know, short notice, but that's how I roll!)

To the soul, there is hardly anything more healing than friendship.

I'm back from Camp Sparkle! Well, I've been back since Sunday evening, but I haven't had much energy to post. I spent most of my time getting caught up with everything, watch all the shows, do lots of laundry, buy groceries, go back to work and stuff like that. Exhausting!

Anyway, Camp has been fabulous! It was so good to see everyone again and finally meet [personal profile] sperrywink, adelate and ihearthings_ii in person! (They are lovely!) :D

Most of us went to see NKOTBSB in concert on Saturday (which was not the webcast one) and it has been a lot of fun! I didn't expect the joint concert to work so well, but it was great. The awesome company didn't hurt either. :D

A few of us went to see the Avengers together as well. Great movie, lots of fun! :D

The house was very nice and it had wifi! I did tweet a bit and checked LJ a few times, but didn't really do much online.

Other than the above we were lazy, went on a few trips, played sparkly games, watched footage and wrote the five word story, which actually does make sense. Somewhat at least. Heh.

After Camp I went back to London and spent the weekend there. I met up with the lovely raven_lore, who I haven't seen in far too long!

Saturday I went to see Hampton Court Palace, a pretty amazing place! It was a special weekend thing apparently, because in the kitchens they had people make real food!

Didn't do much on Sunday, slept in, made my way to the airport very slowly. Heh.

100 things about me and my hometown

001: (Travel) Anxiety

As much as I like travelling to places, meeting people, seeing things, travel anxiety gets me every time. I worry about everything, packing and repacking and re-repacking my stuff, checking a million times that I haven't forgotten anything. Worrying that my suitcase gets lost, worrying that people won't like me (even though they seemed to like me before). Already missing my flat, my alone time, my own stuff before I even went away. And then the doubt sets in, wondering if I even should go, maybe staying home would be better. And so on and on and on.

I hate it. But nothing much I can do about it.

Anyway, it's Camp Sparkle time soon. I'll be gone for more than a week! See you all when I'm back! :)

The reverse side also has a reverse side.

Things I did in the past week:

- Went to a family fest on Saturday. It was the 85th birthday of my great-uncle (my mom's uncle). It was nice enough, but lots of people that I didn't know. The food was yummy in any case!

- Lost an hour last weekend! I want it back! I really don't like that Daylight Saving's Time business.

- Had a day off on Monday. Went shopping and spent too much money on new clothes. Now I need new shoes as well.

- Went to the Sneak Preview* last night, where we got to see "My Week with Marilyn". While my companions didn't like it much, I enjoyed it quite a lot. Michelle Williams was really brilliant in it!
(*They have a Sneak Preview every other Tuesday.)

- Just booked the hotel for [personal profile] bingeling's and mine Simon Amstell weekend in June. \o/

- Everyone seems to talk about hockey slash lately. All I care about at the moment is that my home hockey team (the Black Wings) is in the playoffs finale! Best of 7, they are now in the lead with 2:1, next game tomorrow night! Wohoo!

You're never too old to become younger.

Thank you, aerisaturner, mabiana and elsmoka for the glass hearts! <333

It snowed quite a bit during the night, as I discovered this morning when I stepped out of the house. And of course the sidewalk wasn't cleared yet (the streets were, though). I didn't get far before I slipped and fell. Have a bruised knee now. You can't see anything on my hands, but they are a bit sore. Boo!

Checked my credit card online today. *gulps* Did I really book three flights for later this year? Yes, apparently I did! Flights for Camp Sparkle! For Fedcon! And flights to see Simon Amstell's new show in June. \o/ But damn, why is everything so expensive???

miranda is shocked (elsmoka)

Don't reinvent the wheel, just realign it.

Got back from my weekend at saba1789's place yesterday. The train home was unfortunately 45 min late, but the weekend was wonderful!

Saba made all the food (om nom nom) for stellamira and me. And we marathoned all the Miranda episodes! Such fun! There was also hugging and talking about stuff! :D

On Sunday we (Mira, [personal profile] bingeling, and me) cheered for Saba, [personal profile] temve and [personal profile] ell on their 5k charity run! All of them did really, really great! :D

Pretty much after the race ended it started to rain so much. We all got wet, but most of it landed on Bing somehow. Poor Bing!

Sometime during the weekend Saba asked me why I haven't put any of my stories on AO3 and she told me that I should. But I don't know, it's been ages since I've written anything and I feel so disconnected to those old stories. And more often than not I can't really look at them, because I feel that they are all terrible. I really don't know. D:

Tonight is Sneak Preview time and I really hope that we get to see a whole movie this time! (And why is there no OV of Conan in any of the cinemas here? Wanna see! DDD:)

My co-workers have been busy in my absence. When I walked into the office I found this on my wall. Post-it art! :D

Where has the time gone? Apparently, it's been a while since I last updated here, but whenever I think I should write something, I'm distracted by something else and I never do. *boo's self* Anyone have any suggestions on how to update more often? I need some pointers!

Anyway, last weekend was spent in Munich with saba1789, stellamira, mabiana and franzi1981!

We all went to the Take That concert on Friday, which was just awesome! Rob is still the best and I love him so much (surprise, surprise!) and the rest of the boys were awesome too! I just wish I could have seen a little bit more. But I guess that's the downside of a concert in a football stadium. Hehe.

The rest of the weekend we spent in Munich, doing all the things. Saba, Mabiana and I went on a sightseeing walking tour that lasted for four hours! It was great, but also exhausting, because the tour guide was a fast talker and a fast walker. Heh. All in all, a great time was had! Mabiana posted a few of her pictures here.

And! The first thing Saba noticed (after the hugs) was "You have grey hair!!!" Yes, yes, I really do. D: I was too lazy to go the hairdresser before the Munich weekend (and I'm also a bit sick of having to constantly dye my hair), so there was lots of grey hair. D:
(ETA: And I think I should add that I didn't mind so much Saba noticing, I just hate how noticeable the grey hair already is. Dying would help, but I'm so lazy. See, it's an unbreakable circle!)

Work-wise the past week has been very stressful! So many people are on vacation and then a couple more got sick and just a handful of people were left to do all the work. D: This coming week should be a bit better, because there are a couple of people coming back from their vacations. *crosses fingers*

Also, we had some annoying problems with the new digital dictation system. Every time the IT people do some upgrade something else gets broken. They started to implement that new system last November and it's still not working properly! Gah! Everyone's so frustrated, so much that some doctors have gone back to dictate things on mini-cassettes. *headdesk*

My Highlander re-watch has come to an end! Woe! I watched the last episode on Sunday and it has been really great! Collapse )

Tomorrow morning I'm going to Munich for the weekend! I'm going to meet up with mabiana, saba1789, stellamira and franzi1981 and we're going to see Take That together (Wheeeeeeeeeee!)! I'm so excited! :DDD
(And maybe when I'm get back home on Sunday LJ will be back. *crosses fingers*)
