meego me

The universe may not always play fair, but at least it's got a hell of a sense of humor.

It's been almost three weeks since the accident and I'm mostly fine. The knee and hip doesn't hurt at all anymore, but the ankle is still giving me trouble. Walking, climbing stairs up and down and some movements still hurt, but that's to be expected. Who knows how long that's gonna take, according to the doctor who saw me at the check up I shouldn't be so "impatient". Meh.

I've got an appointment with my attorney (well, the one that my insurance company assigned to my case) on Tuesday and let's see what they've got to say.

In the past couple months we've had quite a few game nights, which I'm really enjoying. I really love board games and I don't mind losing as long as we have a good time. Unfortunately, not everyone sees it like that. There have been a couple bad moments with people being sore losers and also the one couple tends to fight with each other while playing against each other. It can get a bit frustrating, but mostly it's fun times!

My friend S is really into the Print & Play games and the two of us have tried out a few of those. We've tried Gods, which was nice to play. Also Hive, which was really fun to play. But this one is probably not for someone who can't stand insects at all! There was another tile laying game we played, but I can't remember the name of it.

It's Oscar night and I've got tomorrow off so that I can watch the whole thing live. It's become kind of a tradition for me to do that, even though I haven't seen even half of the movies (or a third or a fourth) that are nominated.

But I finally got to see Gravity in 3D today! I've wanted to see it since it came out last year, but I never managed to see it and no one wanted to go with me. But then I found out that one cinema had an Oscar special today, where they showed all movies that are nominated for Best Picture. So, I went to see it and it really didn't disappoint! The 3D was fantastic and I really enjoyed the movie! :)

Anywhere is walking distance, if you've got the time.

I'm home and on sick leave, because I had quite the "exciting" morning yesterday. I was on my way to work, on the zebra crossing almost on the other side, when a car hit me and knocked me over. He claimed that he didn't see me, but I had green and I was on the zebra crossing and I'm not exactly small and I had an open umbrella with me, but well.

There was police and the ambulance brought me to the ER. I was lucky, because the driver wasn't going very fast, but I have a banged up knee and a twisted ankle and I'm feeling very sore and bruised today. But other than that I'm fine. Meh.

Don't knock the weather. (cont.)

Don't knock the weather. If it didn't change once in a while, nine out of ten people couldn't start a conversation.

On the upside, the dentist's assistant was so, so sweet and lovely and very cute. <333

It seems that both Shannen Doherty and Holly Marie Combs are coming to Fedcon next year. I'm happy to see them both, but also a bit confused. Don't they hate each other? Maybe we're not going to see a joined panel. ;)

Even more exciting: Ray Park is coming to Fedcon! Darth Maul, my favorite Sith! :DDD

Nichelle Nichols will be there too! I've loved Uhura since I was a little girl, so exciting! :D

naked books (geneli4)

Books are not made for furniture, but there is nothing else that so beautifully furnishes a house.

I've got a bit of a cold. Well, mostly a really sore throat and a cough. It started Monday night, but it was really bad on Wednesday. So, I left work early on Wednesday and stayed home yesterday. Although, that was mostly, because my co-worker S. insisted that I stay home and not infect everyone at work.

It's a lot better today, which is really great, because I'm going to visit saba1789 for the weekend and we (that is Saba and mabiana too) are going to the Frankfurt book fair this weekend!

So exciting! I've always wanted to go the book fair, but never went. But now I do! Wohoo! :D

I haven't watched Glee in ages, but I watched last night's episode earlier and it was hard to watch. I was crying so much. I mean, I'm usually crying a lot when sad (or in general very emotional) things happen on TV, but it's even worse when you know that it's not just the character that died. :(((

space - the final frontier

Hope is necessary in every condition.

Thursday early in the morning, I managed to give my glasses a tiny push (while I was trying to turn off the alarm clock) and they fell off the night table. One of the glasses popped out of the frame. Meh.

Luckily I prefer to wear my contact lenses to work, so it wasn't a big problem. But when I'm home I usually wear my glasses (because I'm just too lazy to put the contacts during the weekend), so I had to get them fixed asap. After work, I went to my optician and while he was able to fix the glasses, he thought that it's probably only a temporary fix. The frames are old and not very stable and all. So, I thought, "what the hell" and picked out new frames!

And while I was there, we also did a check up on my contact lenses, which are already three years old (I have hard contact lenses) and I'm going to get a new pair of those too.

And because I've been such a loyal customer (25 years!) I got a rather big discount on the glasses! Yay! No discount on the contact lenses, but I don't really pay much for them anyway, because most of it is payed for by the insurance company.

I changed my cable provider package (which now includes TV, Internet, land line) and I got an additional channel package, which includes SyFy (stupid name). Even though I don't really watch much TV (on the actual TV), I just had to watch these past few days, because Star Trek! They air a couple episodes of Voyager and after that a couple episodes of TNG and wheeee! Happy Trek feelings! :D

And I already watched a crappy SyFy movie (Metal Tornado!), just because Lou Diamond Phillips was in it. I love him! <333

May I never miss a sunset or a rainbow because I am looking down.

I finally got my first two massages this past week and they were so good, but way too short! I got them early in the morning, which is really nice, but especially on Friday it made me drowsy as hell. And then I got a headache and for once I decided to leave work early. Hah!

For a little over a week now the fan of my graphics card has been very loud, especially when I first start the computer. Sometimes it quiets down again, but sometimes not. It's very disconcerting, but I tried to ignore it as much as possible. Well, until yesterday, because then the the monitor turned black twice while I was playing WoW. Rebooting the computer worked, but I couldn't play anymore. Woe!

Things like that always happen on the weekend! Because it was already so late, I couldn't go out and buy a new graphics card anymore. And of course, around here, stores are closed on Sundays. I will buy a new graphics card tomorrow after work with the help of my brother, who hopefully will also put it into my computer.

Of course, now that I know I can't play WoW, I really, really want to. Even though sometimes I go days without opening the game. DDD:

I just want it to work again! *whines* At least, I can do normal things on my computer without the graphics card overheating.

On the upside! I finally booked my flights for Fedcon! Whee!

And! Camp Sparkle is a go! Booked my flights and everything and this year we're going to Brighton! :D I can't wait to see everyone again!
simon amstell is adorable (bing)

Happiness is not a station you arrive at, but a manner of traveling.

Happy making things:
- I think most people that are interested have already seen it, but here are two videos of a behind the scenes Legend of the Seeker thing and it's adorable and fun and <333! Here and the same scene from a different angle here. :DDD

- The Viennese Leopold Museum currently has an exhibition that's called "Nude Men", which is pretty much naked men in art. The best thing is that, because they had so many requests, they offered to do special guided tours for nudists this past Monday. The tours were outside of the regular opening hours and only naked people were allowed in (Nacktführung im Leopold Museum). Kind of awesome. Hehe. Loved the expression "textilloses Puplikum" in the article! :D

- It's the Oscar's tonight. And I have a day off tomorrow, so it's going to be a loooooong night for me. :D

- The Nordic World Ski Championships have started last Wednesday and so far it's been really great. Love all the ski jumping and cross-country skiing! :D

- I won kat_fanfic during the sterekcampaign auctions and she wrote me an awesome song and performed it and it's so, so happy making! Whee! :D
Hopefully the widget thingy works, so that you can listen to it too! If not, you can find it here.

A couple days ago, the blood bank called me and asked me if I'd like to donate blood plasma. It was so totally out of the blue, especially because I haven't donated blood in years (way too long!).

I wasn't so sure if I should do it, because the times when you can donate are very inconvenient. On the upside, it's just a couple minutes from my work place and you get a little bit of money for your trouble. And chocolate! Can't forget the chocolate! :D

Today I went to the blood bank after lunch to make an appointment and they took some blood to test if they can actually use my blood for a plasma donation. The nurse had quite some trouble finding the vein, poking around in my arm. Ouch. They'll let me know if I can do the blood plasma donations in a couple weeks.
laughing cat

We're not lost. We're locationally challenged.

What I forgot to say, yesterday, was that on our way to the Klangwolke I managed to twist my right ankle and bang my left knee! Woe!

It's the same ankle where I've torn the ligaments a few years ago, which makes the whole thing not that great. Although, this time nothing seems to be torn, but it still hurts when I walk. And the knee is turning blue-ish, but it doesn't hurt that much. Except when I accidentally bang it again, which happens frequently.

The soles of two of my favorite pairs of shoes have gotten very thin and damaged and since those shoes were on the expensive side, I decided to get them repaired. And today I finally managed to go to the repair shop. Yay. I can wear the shoes again. The only downside is that they now have black soles instead of light ones. But you can't have everything!

I think I'm finally getting the hang of the new warlock rotation in WoW. I was so worried before the new patch came out that I'd start hating playing with my warlock, especially since she's my main and I love her. It's quite nice actually, affliction locks seem to have gotten a bit of burst damage. I went with Grimoire of Sacrifice and it's so weird to run around without a minion! A warlock without a minion! So strange!

I haven't really looked at any of my Horde toons yet, haven't re-spec'd them either (except for my druid). Maybe I should do that tomorrow or so.
