To try to be better is to be better.

Things:

- Pimping mfac, which is a fannish advent calendar run by saba1789. It's already the 10th year she's doing it and it's going to be awesome. Also, there will be a guest entry by me! The first door opened today!

- Last week I baked Vanillekipferl. It's pretty much the first time I baked anything since I was a teenager and had cooking classes in school. They turned out quite good, even my mom and brother liked them. :)

- I went Christmas shopping last week and I've bought all the presents! I'm mostly done with Christmas shopping. Yay! :)

- Woke up to the news that Paul Walker died. So sad. :(((

- Orlando Jones is a gift to fandom. ;D

I had a monumental idea this morning, but I didn't like it.

Hello all, it's been a month or so. The weather is cold and rainy, but I don't mind that so much. Mostly because I'm the freak who prefers winter to summer and cold weather to warm/hot weather. Although, I don't hate the sun (as some people believe), I just hate it that the sun makes everything so hot!

Anyway, other things:

Wil Wheaton met John Barrowman at a convention last weekend and then this happened: in which John Barrowman sweeps Wil Wheaton off his feet | WIL WHEATON dot NET
I might have squeaked a little bit when I saw that picture. Hehehe.

Also last weekend at the same con, J. Michael Straczynski did a Q&A where he (among other things) finally revealed the circumstances why Michael O'Hare (Jeffrey Sinclair) left Babylon 5.

I meant to write a report about Fedcon, but I pushed it back and back. Meh. It was a very fun and long weekend, even though that this Fedcon was all about the guest cancellations. We even had two last minute cancellations (Roxann Dawson and Tricia Helfer), which was sad.

Variety is the soul of pleasure.

Before I forget again, thanks so much, [personal profile] sperrywink, for the Thanksgiving card! It's very cute! *hugs*

My mom is still playing Plants vs. Zombies and in the process ranting a lot about zombies. So strange!

In general I've been feeling pretty blah and listless about everything lately. Definitely not in the mood for the fast approaching holiday season.

I haven't read Merlin fanfiction in a while. Pretty much clear sign that I'm more or less ready to move on. I haven't latched onto a new fandom yet, but after rewatching the show I've read a few Flashpoint stories. Not that there are many (and even less good ones). Woe. It makes me sad that Flashpoint will be over soon.

I'm definitely not admitting to reading some of the Teen Wolf stories that were rec'd on crack_van. No, not at all. Not me. At least werewolfs don't sparkle.

Our lives teach us who we are.

It's already October, how strange! Time flies by when you're having fun and are on vacation.

[personal profile] kriski visited me from last week Thursday till Tuesday. We had a really good time.

We visited the Farmer's market where kriski marveled at all the strange Austrian names for vegetables and fruits. We bought all kinds of different cheese and fresh bread and had a nice cheese platter for dinner that day.

We went down to the Danube and had a really nice walk there. At one point we went on a landing stage, sat on the bench there and did a Sudoku. :D

We watched a few movies (Iron Sky and How To Train Your Dragon) and I think I got her hooked on Fringe. :D Fringe is awesome! :D

After kriski left, basically what I did the rest of the week was play WoW. Lots of awesome stuff to do! Levelled my main to 90, started with another one (who is 86 now), played a little bit with pet battles. All the stuff you can do at 90 is a bit overwhelming, though.

Almost all my shows are back on. I've ditched NCIS, because it hasn't really been fun watching it for the past two years or so. I've also stopped watching Glee after the first two episodes of the new season.

I cried a lot at the new episodes of Grey's Anatomy! Why, oh why??? Also, cried a lot at Flashpoint, but that's not really anything new. I always cry watching Flashpoint!

Oh yeah, Merlin's back as well. Wheee!

Last night was the long night of the museums in the country. My friend S. and I went to see the Voestalpine, which is a globally operating steel company. We did a plant tour, which was very impressive. After that we took the shuttle bus and went to see the tiny observatory, which was nice and cute. Saw some nebula of a dying star through the telescope. <3

Btw., the shuttle bus was apparently the regular bus of the Black Wings, the local hockey team. Such fun! :D

Back to work tomorrow. Don't want to! D:

Fluchtwege! Umlaut! Kling-Off!*

So, maybe I should make a post about Fedcon? It's already been a week since the convention after all. Oops.

I had a really great time! Although, a four day convention is quite exhausting! mabiana was a wonderful con companion (she's always a great travel partner :D).
We managed to meet up with [personal profile] tmz_cori and chani_atreides a couple times, which was fun!
And of course, I finally met padfootie in person! I count that meeting as a success, even though she hit me within 1/2 hour of seeing each other for the first time. *g* <3
Oh! I managed to talk to [personal profile] rike_tikki_tavi for a bit, before she had to go back to work again. Con helpers, always busy!

*Only funny when you were at the con. Fluchtwege (= emergency exit) is what Garrett Wang wrote on my autograph!

The fact that a great many people believe something is no guarantee of its truth.

I've still got a cough, but it seems to get a bit better at least. It was pretty bad at work yesterday, though. :(

Sunday afternoon I went to Vienna, met with liriel_ for coffee, and then I went to the Loreena McKennitt concert. The concert was pretty awesome with most of my favorite songs. And it was so great to see her on stage for the first time, I've been a fan for about 20 years (OMG! 20 years? How is that even possible?)! I had a front row seat! :D

After the concert I had about 10 - 15 min to get to the train station, which I barely managed to do. It's not that far from the concert hall to the train station, but I'm neither a fast walker nor a runner and add to that my cold I was breathing pretty hard when I reached the train. Finally got home around 1 am.

But it was so worth it! :D

Still thinking about the 100 things blogging challenge, but I still can't come up with a topic. I was thinking maybe 100 things about World of Warcraft, but I'm not sure so many people would be interested about that. Or more general 100 fannish things that includes everything from WoW to TV shows, books, movies, fanfiction recs, picspams, anything else I can come up with? 100 random things about me? 100 things about my hobbies? I don't know!

Happiness is something that you are and it comes from the way you think.

I've got a cold, the second one this year. Which is really kind of strange, because I'm not really prone to getting cold. Or getting sick in general. Started with a sore throat and have now progressed to lots of coughing. Bleh.

Hopefully it won't be too bad when I'm going to the Loreena McKennitt concert tonight in Vienna. *crosses fingers*

Did get into the WoW Mists of Pandaria Beta on Friday. Haven't played much, yet, because there are a ton of other people there as well. And the game client keeps crashing. So far, pandas are cute, maybe too cute.

This 100 things blogging challenge looks very interesting. But I don't know if I can even come up with 100 things about one topic. Any suggestions?

Not only is life a bitch, it has puppies.

I did manage to stay up all night to watch the Oscars on Sunday. It wasn't terribly exciting, though.
Two things: Robert Downey Jr. is awesome! And Dean Pelton* won an Oscar! :D

(*Jim Rash, who plays Dean Pelton on Community, won an Oscar for the Descendants screenplay. :D)

Had a day off on Monday, because I'm too old to pull all nighters and then go to work. I slept a few hours and then I tried to stay awake until the evening. Heh.

I managed to do my taxes on Monday, submitted everything online and already got the income tax statement (or whatever the letter is called that tells you how much you get back from the finance office) yesterday. Already checked my bank account online, but so far they haven't transferred the money. Hopefully soon! *waits*

I'm feeling a bit sick, sore throat and a cough. Bleh.

Because things are the way they are, things will not stay the way they are.

I'm still mainlining Fringe and only two more episodes and I'm all caught up! This makes me sad, because then I have to wait like everyone else for new episodes. DNW!

My brother is cute and annoying at the same time! He makes me give him the current episodes of H50 and NCIS:LA, because he doesn't want to wait for them to be on TV here. He's watching them in English, because he doesn't want to wait!!! Anyway, he's watching the episodes (he's a couple episodes behind, because it does take him longer to watch things in English) and then he calls me and asks me stuff about plot points and little things, even though he doesn't actually want to know these things.

He wants to watch unspoiled and he still calls me. I guess, it's his way of being a fanboy and flailing about the shows. Heh.
