Live. Grow stronger. Fight another day.

I suppose I should update my journal again...

First of all, thanks so much turlough for the Picnic Basket on my LJ profile page! *hugs*

And thank you, raven_lore, for the lovely postcard from Dublin! *hugs*

A meme (via dragonaph):
Go look at your blog journal. Find the last Fandom-related thing you posted. The characters in that post are now your team-mates in the Zombie Apocalypse. How fucked are you?

My last fandom related thing was of course about Highlander. And I suppose, there are worse people to have at your side during a Zombie Apocalypse than Duncan MacLeod and Methos and a few more Immortals. Heh.
But it makes me wonder, can Immortals be zombified?

Speaking of Highlander, I'm still re-watching the show and Collapse )

I've also watched the new Collapse )

I bought some batteries, but they weren't included.

Every day I intend to post, but then I never do. It's the story of my life lately. I'm really behind in everything online. And I'm up to 95 96 open tabs again, how did that happen? Also, this little Firefox addon that lets me know how many open tabs I have is really handy...

Last week I said to the lady boss, "I really don't think I can make it till September [when I have 2 weeks off] without a break" and the lady boss said, "okay, you can have Monday and Tuesday off." I had too much overtime anyway, so yay! I'd made big plans of decluttering my wardrobe and playing WoW, but in the end I just lazed around all four days. But it was good! :-D

On Wednesday, I finally got my Torchwood: Children of Earth DVDs. It was actually the replacement shipment that they sent. I wonder what happened to the original shipment. They probably ended up somewhere in Australia. Wouldn't be the first time.

Yesterday, I went clothes shopping after work and I spent too much money on cute clothes. But I really needed new pants! The three tops and the one jacket just sort of made it into the shopping cart without me noticing! Really! Um. I did manage to buy two pairs of trousers, though.

This week _sushi_ and I finalized our vacation plans for September. We're going to make a week long tour through Wales. \o/ The whole thing will cost us way too much money, but it'll be worth it! Can't wait!

And tomorrow, Sushi and I will meet Heli and his new wife (they married early this month) and their baby girl for lunch. Last time I saw them the baby girl hasn't been born yet. I'm so excited to see her. :-D

Someday we'll look back on this moment and plow into a parked car.

In non fannish things: Today was a medieval festival thing going on in town. With all sorts of things like a medieval market and of course also a tournament. Which was really fun and great to watch with the sword fights and the horses and stuff. Well, it was fun until one of the stunt people got hurt in the sword fight. He ended up with a wound on the forehead, it was bleeding quite a lot. Ouch.

I didn't get to see all that much from the whole festival thing, because there were so many people out there that _sushi_ left pretty early. Good thing too, because back home I noticed that I managed to get quite a sunburn on my face and my decollete. That's why I don't like to go out in the sun: sunburns and then the resulting headache of being too long in the sun. :-/

We went back to my place instead and watched The Bourne Ultimatum. Finally. We were only talking about watching the movie together since it came out two years ago. \o/

Oh, and I've got 7 DW invite codes, if anyone wants one, just raise your hand.

Good men must be affectionate men.

So, this past week I haven't gotten much sleep, because I've decided to get up very early to watch TW before work. Except for last night, because then I didn't go to bed at all and watched it right after I came home from dinner with the classmates from my trainings course (everyone passed the oral exam \o/). As a result I've had a very long nap this afternoon. Oh sleep, how I've missed you. (Yes, it seems I can be quite obsessed! /o\)

I just need enough to tide me over until I need more.

Maybe I should update again? I meant to update a few times this past week, but somehow it never happened. Oops.

This past week I went to see Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs, which was as fun and cute as the previous movies. Didn't see it in 3D, though.

Last night I went to see Die Ärzte, a German punk/rock band. They call themselves the "best band of the world" and it was really one of the best concerts I've ever been to. They just rocked. Unfortunately, I was queuing up in front of the portable loos when they started the show. Damn. But I got to see all the rest. Yay.

It was also a very wet show. It started raining on my way to the stadium and by the time the concert started I was soaking wet. It stopped then at least. And it was warm enough that I wasn't cold, but still, I hate being wet.

Today, I watched the Wimbledon finale between Roger Federer and Andy Roddick and it was a great game. 14:16 for Federer in the 5th set. Unbelievable.

And of course I listened to the three Torchwood radio plays. My favorite was the third one and I fell asleep during the second one. I might have to listen to that one again. Just one more day until the new episodes air! I can't wait! And I can't believe that it'll be over in just five days. Bleh. I want more!
ronon wants to go back to bed

I can't complain, but sometimes I still do.

Haven't really felt like posting, nothing to tell anyway. I had my last day of classes yesterday and the oral exam is Friday next week (from 11 am to 1 pm). I feel a lot less nervous about that one. Unfortunately, I also feel a lot less motivated to actually study. :-/

In any case I'm on study vacation starting tomorrow. Have to work Friday next week, because the oral exam is at my work place anyway.

Link round up of things that I posted to Twitter this past week:
* minotaurs died last Sunday. I've met him once at Friscon (10 years ago), where he had one of his famous panels. I got to talk to him for a little while, which was really nice. He'll be missed.

* I'm really sad that they decided to cancel Primeval. I know that a lot of people didn't really like series 3, but I enjoyed it a lot. Danny was awesome! Becker and Sarah ♥. Also Abby/Connor ♥! I will really miss it.

* This particular nomination for the Advisory Board Election makes me want to laugh and cry at the same time.

* Gewaltspiele sind ungefährlich (German article). Games don't kill (Flickr picture group).

* Australian Torchwood: Children of Earth trailer. Very creepy!

And it seems that we finally have an airdate for TW series 3. Sort of. Apparently BBC1 will air it between July 4th and July 10th. \o/

The last season of ER is airing on German TV at the moment and I can't tell you how awesome I think it is. It really hasn't been that good since John Carter left. I've never been fannish about it, but I always watched and I will miss this show so much!

I finally managed to update my iPhone to OS 3.0. I'd downloaded the OS yesterday, but then the activation server wouldn't connect. Woe! Did it today and finally, copy & paste! :-D Also, I really need to try out Internet-Tethering (connect your iPhone to your laptop and use it as a modem), which is available here. :-D

I also have four DW invite codes left. If you want one comment and I'll send it your way.

Don't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia.

This killer headache does not make me happy. I almost forgot how that feels, it's been a while since my last major headache. *sighs*

Song Vid Rec: TorchBears. A funny and cute Torchwood songvid. Hee.

I haven't seen Tropical Thunder, yet, but this fake trailer for Satan's Alley is really all kinds of special. So, has anyone already written Satan's Alley slash? *g*

This weekend I've watched lots and lots of TV (like usual).

I also watched lots of Bones episodes. I've started watching season 3 today, still like it lots. I ♥ Booth and I think I have a tiny girlcrush on Angela. She's so pretty!

Because things are the way they are, things will not stay the way they are.

Happy Birthday, amikara! I wish you all the best! *hugs*

Torchwood fandom is one of the most frustrating fandoms I've ever been in. At least when it comes to fanfiction. It's so frustrating that I started to make a list with all the things that annoy me!

* Pretty much everything that is posted is a WIP. I hate WIPs. I don't read WIPs. (What I do is wait until the story is finished and read it then.)
* Those WIPs have about a bazillion chapters and sub-chapters (like part 15a, 15b, 15c, etc.) and interludes and prologues and epilogues.
* And then there's the sequels with just as many chapters and sub-chapters and interludes and prologues and epilogues.
* Most of the time those "chapters" have less than 1000 words, some have less than 500 words.
* The stories have weird formatting. Sometimes the font is incredibly tiny, sometimes it's huge, sometimes it's in bright red (at least the header information).
* Sometimes every chapter has a different formatting.
* Sometimes the formatting changes between paragraphs!

And that's just the presentation of the stories, I haven't even started on the list with all the things that annoy me with the writing of the stories. And I still keep reading, because I'm... a masochist apparently. And because I love the characters. *sighs*
