hiro did it

You're never too old to become younger.

Thank you, aerisaturner, mabiana and elsmoka for the glass hearts! <333

It snowed quite a bit during the night, as I discovered this morning when I stepped out of the house. And of course the sidewalk wasn't cleared yet (the streets were, though). I didn't get far before I slipped and fell. Have a bruised knee now. You can't see anything on my hands, but they are a bit sore. Boo!

Checked my credit card online today. *gulps* Did I really book three flights for later this year? Yes, apparently I did! Flights for Camp Sparkle! For Fedcon! And flights to see Simon Amstell's new show in June. \o/ But damn, why is everything so expensive???

And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same.

Watched yesterday's episode of Notaufnahme (the documentation that was partly shot in the hospital I work) online today.
One of the cases shown was a doctor performing a heart catheter ablation. It was a bit weird and also very sad to see this particular doctor perform the procedure, because only a few months after that was filmed (filmed last summer) this doctor tragically died in a rowing accident, he drowned in the Danube. :-(
He was one of my favorite doctors to write for, he was always fun, had a bit of a "distracted professor" vibe going on and he was one of the best doctors in his field in the country.

But! Happy things!

Found via Twitter; Josh Groban is kind of awesome! :-D

And! Tweeted by the awesome Kirsten Vangsness: Collapse )

Sanity is a madness put to good use.

1) Happy Birthday, i_am_schizo! I hope you had a great day! *hugs*

2) A big reason why Kirsten Vangsness (Garcia) is awesome! She plans to marry her girlfriend in every country where same-sex marriage is legal! ♥♥♥

3) Yesterday, my second WoW toon dinged 80. Wohoo! Yes, I know, other people have a million level 80 toons, but still wohoo!

4) I had a day off today and I went shoe shopping. I managed to find two (pricey) pairs of shoes, eventually. It's not easy to find shoes for my fat feet!

5) I'm quite anti-social at the moment. I avoid talking to people as much as possible at the moment. I'd be perfectly content if I could hide in my flat for the rest of the year.

Well, that's that then: Criminal Minds Cast Update

One random thing about me:
I don't get audiobooks/podfics at all. I mean, I get that it's a cool medium, but it's not one for me. I've tried to listen to pro audiobooks and podfics with the same result every time. I hear the words and stuff, but I can't follow the plot at all. I just don't understand what is happening in the story.

When I read, I usually visualize the story. It's almost like a film playing in my head, maybe a bit more abstract than that, but still. But when I listen to audiobooks/podfics I'm unable to picture anything. It's blank and without that visual aid I don't seem to be able to follow what's happening in the story.

I can't read on long train rides, because I get motion sick, so listening to audiobooks would be great. Except, I can't do that either. Let me tell you, it's frustrating!

In other news; I'm going to be in London next weekend! I'm going to meet up with raven_lore and then we're going to enjoy Pride Weekend together! \o/

I have a thing for cracktastic movies about global catastrophes and I have a thing for Stonehenge, so it's really no surprise that I watched Collapse )

As you probably can guess from my subject line, I'm watching the World Cup, too. So far I've been able to see most of the matches (with the exception of the first games of the day, since I'm at work). So far I'm not too overwhelmed with the games, they are not so exciting to watch.

I was most impressed with the German team. They played really, really well. Let's see if they can keep it up. I liked the Korean (Republic of Korea) team, too. And the Swiss team was awesome today!

Before the World Cup started I predicted that England would win the tournament. Well, I suppose they'd need a better goalkeeper to accomplish that...

The best goal so far was the first Brazilian goal, very impressive! And beautiful!

ETA: And thanks to elsmoka, [personal profile] kriski, and mabiana for the lemurs on my LJ profile page! :-)

The most important thing is to be whatever you are without shame.

A very Happy Birthday to [info - personal] kriski (lass dich knuddeln, Zwilling!) and slippery_fish! I wish you both all the best! *hugs tight*

Last week we had very warm temperatures of around 25° C (too warm for autumn) and this week the temperatures are just above 0° C (too cold for October). It snowed yesterday! o.O

I do like the cold a lot better than the heat, but temperature drops like that make me dizzy (literally). And I'm freezing. The only good place to be is wrapped up in a blanket with a hot cup of tea. Unfortunately, the wrapped in a blanket bit is really not that great at work.

Maybe it's the cold, but I've been feeling slightly depressed and lonely this week. The lonely bit is kind of funny, because I like being alone. I'm introverted! Antisocial me is lonely, what a joke. :-/

It's time for a new post, me things. Aside from work, I have watched things this week! Lots of shows back, yay.

Yesterday evening one of my study partners came buy for a study session (obviously). And the first thing she told me was that they brought forward the oral exam by two weeks! OMG! This will bring a whole set of new problems. One thing, less time to study. And secondly, quite a lot of problems at work, because of vacation time of other people. I wanted to take the week before the exam off, but that might not be possible anymore. Just kill me now!

After this first shock, we did get some studying done. Four hours worth of it. My head was spinning afterwards! So much that I didn't do anything today. Bad me!

This morning my co-worker and I did the whole International Workers' Day thing, which was the first time I did it. It was a special occasion, because there may or may not be any changes for my work place (the hospital is owned by the city, but the state really, really wants to buy it, which we really don't want).

Anyway, we did the march and then we got free food and then on the walk back to the car I hurt my ankle. I can walk fine, but it hurts a bit. Boo.

In other news: I bought a DW Premium Paid Account for a year, mostly because I wanted the 200 icon slots and because didn't want to buy a seed account (not that any seed accounts were still available by the time I got online).

Oh, and I've got three two one DW invite codes left in case anyone wants them. Just let me know where I should send your invite (in my LJ entry if possible). ETA: All of them gone now.

That said, I just want to add that I still consider LJ my primary journal! This may change depending on how things go in the next few months, but I like it here. So yes, staying here for the time being (although, I'm going to crosspost).

The only courage that matters is the kind that gets you from one moment to the next.

trobadora tagged me with the eight days of happy meme, which I've done before, but it can't hurt to do it again.

EIGHT DAYS OF HAPPY!
1. Post about something that made you happy today, even if it's just a small thing.
2. Do this every day for eight days.
3. Tag eight of your friends to do the same.

I really suck at tagging people, so I'm skipping #3, but I think I can do #1 and #2.

Day 1
Today's the first day of a long weekend for me, which is very happy making after the week I've had. The lady boss left work early every day this week. She promised me that I could leave early yesterday. But then she called early in the morning to tell me that she needed a day off. Great. :-/

Also, Wednesday really wasn't my day at all.

So, yay, long weekend! Need to recharge my batteries and maybe even study a little bit. \o/
