To try to be better is to be better.

- Pimping mfac, which is a fannish advent calendar run by saba1789. It's already the 10th year she's doing it and it's going to be awesome. Also, there will be a guest entry by me! The first door opened today!

- Last week I baked Vanillekipferl. It's pretty much the first time I baked anything since I was a teenager and had cooking classes in school. They turned out quite good, even my mom and brother liked them. :)

- I went Christmas shopping last week and I've bought all the presents! I'm mostly done with Christmas shopping. Yay! :)

- Woke up to the news that Paul Walker died. So sad. :(((

- Orlando Jones is a gift to fandom. ;D

I have a simple philosophy. Fill what's empty. Empty what's full. And scratch where it itches.

Thanks to everyone who sent me Christmas/holiday cards! They were all such nice surprises and I loved them all, especially because I didn't have a Christmas card post up this year and also didn't leave my address on any of the card posts I saw on my friendslist. So, thanks again! :DDD <333

Christmas was a nice quiet affair, like every year and just the way I like it. I spent Christmas Eve (the really important present giving day here ;D) with my mom and my brother.

Early in the morning we went to the TV studio where we picked up the Peace Light and then we had Glühmost on empty stomaches (like you do on Christmas ;P) and then we went to the cemetery to visit my dad's grave. Then there was lunch and I went home for a bit and later that day gift exchange and more food. And alcohol. Yay.

I got some very lovely presents; gift certificates from my mom and my brother paid for my Robbie Williams concert ticket. :D Also, a lovely knitted hat from mabiana and a Hard Rock t-shirt from saba1789. (She also got me a Hard Rock t-shirt for my birthday! One from Barcelona and one from Helsinki. <333)

On Christmas day we visited my grandma. Some of the other relatives were there too and it was quite nice. At some point old photo albums were looked at. I was such a cute child! :D

I had to work Thursday and Friday, but now I've got a long weekend again. Yay. I'm still a bit upset that I have to work next week Wednesday to Friday, but what can you do.

Oh, oh! It's Four Hills Tournament time again! Yay! The best thing that's happening in the last week of the old year and the first week of the new year! :D
They had the qualification yesterday and today is the first competition. Can't wait! Yay, ski jumping! :D

Also, also, Miranda is back!!!!! I'm so excited about this, you can't imagine! I've missed that show so much and now it's back and it's just as good as ever. I laughed so much! It was Sue Perb! :D
(But I really hope that Miranda and Gary get their shit together, because yes!)

Happy holidays!

Since today is already the day that the important Christmassy stuff happens around here I wanted to wish everyone who celebrates a Merry Christmas! :D

(People getting the Peace Light, which is originally from Bethlehem.)
piggy kisses (sunlitdays)

I like work: it fascinates me. I can sit and look at it for hours.

The pre-sale for tickets for Robbie Williams' stadium tour next year started today and of course I just had to get my hands on them! Because Rob! Whee!

So, I tried to get tickets at work (don't tell the lady boss), spent about a million hours in the queue and finally managed to get tickets for mabiana and me! :DDD

It's gonna be the fourth time I'm seeing him in concert. Saw him twice solo and once with Take That. I just can't stay away from this guy! So exciting! :D

Oh, oh, and I want to pimp mfac! It's saba1789's multi-fandom advent calendar and it's going to be awesome like in the past few years! There will be pictures and recs, guest entries and lots of other stuff! So check it out, it's one of my advent highlights every year! :D

It is Christmas in the heart that puts Christmas in the air.

This morning my mom, my brother and I went to the ORF (Austrian TV station) to pick up the Friedenslicht (Light of Peace).

This flame is from the Grotto of the Nativity in Bethlehem and shared between everyone as a symbol of peace.
This year it's the 25th year of this tradition. :)

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to everyone!

When I step into this library, I cannot understand why I ever step out of it.

Another week with lots of Christmas mail! Yay! :D

Thank you stellamira (the little key ring is so cute), binel63, _inbetween_, tikiaceae, [personal profile] rikes, [personal profile] dirtyzucchini and raven_lore! Thanks so much, they are wonderful! <333

Yesterday was my birthdy (OMG! So old! o.O) and it was really nice! Thanks to everyone for the birthday tweets and comments and emails and vgifts and FB messages! So awesome! <333

Unfortunately, I had to work, but we had a little Christmassy celebration at work with food and cake, so that was good. And I got to leave early as well. And then my mom and my brother had a nice birthday dinner at the Mongolian BBQ. Om nom nom.

I got lots of awesome gifts as well! Books and a beautiful necklace from my friend S. My brother gave me the DVD box set for Roswell! <3 I also got wonderful wristwarmers from mabiana and a Loreena McKennitt DVD from saba1789! <333 And can't forget the combined Birthday/Christmas present from [personal profile] kriski, awesome warm knitted socks and a calendar with her beautiful photographs! <333

Oh, and almost forgot, I got flowers from my co-worker! White roses! And they sparkle! :D

We did a little Christmas gift exchange at work and my co-worker (the one that got me flowers) gave me a stuffed Cut the Rope monster. We both love that game and it's so, so cute!

Tonight I'm going to the cinema for the third time this week! So many movies that they show in English at the moment, we have to take advantage of that!

On Monday we went to see Mission Impossible 4, which had some really great action sequences. Some of those scenes probably would look really awesome in 3D.

Tuesday we went to the Sneak Preview (which is every other Tuesday) and they showed This Must Be The Place with Sean Penn. Interesting movie, quite intense, funny at times. Not really a movie I would have watched otherwise, but it's a good one! :)

And tonight we're going to see Sherlock Holmes 2. Can't wait!

If you want creative workers, give them enough time to play.

Thank you, padfootie, for the lovely card! *hugs*

Saturday evening, I had my work Christmas party. Had a very nice dinner at a fancy restaurant! Pricey, but so, so good! :D

For once, I looked really good (I rarely think so!). Very nice hair style, which I did myself, and nice make up and I got lots of compliments. :D

Although, while working on my hair there was also a little accident. I used one of those round combs and it got tangled in my hair and I couldn't get it out anymore! DDD: Was so close to crying. Had to call my mom and ask her to come and get that damn comb out of my hair. D:

She did a great job, but she still had to cut off a bit of a hair. Damn comb, damn hair. At least it turned out okay in the end.

Also, on Saturday, mabiana and I bought our Fedcon tickets! Whee!

Lots of awesome people are coming to Fedcon next year again! Brent Spiner! Jonathan Frakes! Joe Flanigan will be there again! And Kavan Smith! :D Also, Felicia Day! <3

I had the day off today and I spent it with wrapping lots of presents. Some of them will be mailed out tomorrow. Go me!

I also watched Cowboys & Aliens while I wrapped all those presents. There's really not much point to that movie, is it? Except that it has Cowboys and Aliens. ;)

You can't have a light without a dark to stick it in.

Had a good mail day today! :D

Got a lovely postcard from stellamira from her vacation in Peru! Thank you so much! <333
And lovely Christmas cards from [personal profile] sperrywink and meinnim! Thanks so much and thanks for the lovely magnets, Min! <333

Yesterday was a public holiday* here. I was pretty productive, did two loads of laundry and watched Conan the Barbarian while I wrote the Christmas cards. So, if anyone gets weird cards blame the movie! ;D

And today I mailed out all the cards, so you can expect them soon.

Now, if I was just as productive with present shopping! Woe! I have such a hard time finding things for my friends (at least I already have presents for my brother and for my mom). And when I find something, I worry that they might not like it. :/

The movie wasn't too bad either. I've been told I shouldn't expect too much, but I kind of liked it. Jason Momoa (<333) looked good in it. Although, he still looks better when he has a beard. :)

*The holiday was Mariä Empfängnis (Mary's Immaculate Conception). As I told saba1789, considering Christmas is already in a couple weeks this was definitely an alien pregnancy! Which also means, we celebrate the birth of an alien. That probably explains a lot! ;D

Nobody can be exactly like me. Sometimes even I have trouble doing it.

saba1789's fannish advent calendar mfac is underway and today's door is my guest entry! If you're curious about my random bunch of recs you should check it out!

You should also check out all the rest of the entries (and the entries to come!).

Yesterday, for instance, the 6th door contained awesome Moomin icons made by [personal profile] turlough! And a very sweet (and exclusive) Glee (Blaine/Kurt) story by [personal profile] sperrywink! ♥♥♥

In other news, I'm so far behind with my holiday cards! :((( And I'm also very far behind in my quest for presents. I just don't know what to get for my friends. :(((

On the upside, I got another lovely Christmas card! Thanks so much, ruric, for the sweet card! :DDD
