10:38 am - Buses and Bananas
Things always have a habit of happening together, but I really think I've used up my quotient of "stuff" over the last two weeks.

Thing number 1 - Car goes bumpCollapse )

Thing number 2 - CoughsCollapse )

Thing number 3 - Attack of the clonesCollapse )

And I've realised this morning that I left my fleece at Flamenco last night. I think I should just lock myself in the house for the next few days...!

Edit: Never mind - she's managed to sell them :)

I don't normally use my LJ to advertise, but it's an unusual circumstance. As I mentionned last week, my sister's bf was in a traffic accident and is a bit battered and bruised. This means that they have two Aerosmith tickets that they can no longer use.

Would anyone like them or know of someone who might like them?

Aerosmith, 24th June at 2pm in Hyde Park. The tickets were £45 each, but sister will happily take offers.

8:57 am - Snooow!
The drivers of North London have never been so careful or considerate! (Of course, there are always exceptions - grr to the people who tried to push infront of me, and double grr to the very pushy one who managed it >:P)

I could almost wish that all my commutes were snowy! (Almost...:P)

Great advert that apparently was being shown over Christmas and I somehow managed to miss. Might have only been shown in Scotland, not sure..

Iron Bru meets the Snowman

I haven't been very good at updating my journal this year. It's not quite the time for making resolutions yet, but might as well get a head-start..

Merry Christmas!

3:08 pm - Top tips
WOULD-BE CRIMINALS. Before you commit a crime, get a foretaste of what the world would look like from inside a prison by holding a fork up close to your eye.

TO make a pot of supermarket coleslaw go further, simply grate a carrot, some cabbage and an onion into the tub, then add some mayonnaise.

SKATEBOARDERS Stop your trousers from falling halfway down your @rse by wearing a strip of perforated leather with a buckle around your waist.

LADIES. When treating genital thrush, always ensure you use natural bio-yoghurt and not raspberry flavoured Munch Bunch.

BANGING two pistachio nutshells together gives the impression that a very small horse is approaching.

A new flu pandemic could happen at any time and kill between 5-150 million people, a UN health official warned.

...well, at least we know it won't be 4.8 million people.

/flippant ;)

10:34 am - Interesting disease snippets
Somehow I'd managed to completely overlook the fact that there's been a big outbreak of Japanese Encephalitis going on in India. The death toll has just hit 1000. I'm not sure it's even made the news over here.

And a jail-break by plague infected mice! I particularly like the scientifically considered opinion that, based on Occam's razor, this was probably not terrorism, but "a stupid mistake" :P

This is just so bizarre. It's like a bad episode of Law and Order.

I know these sorts of things go around all the time, and they're probably not true... but they made me giggle :)

3:55 pm - The conspiracy theory...
I haven't made it to my Flamenco lessons in three weeks.

I was due to go to Flamenco the day after the first attacks in London, but I didn't really want to get back on the tubes so soon after the attack, and anyway - I didn't really feel like going dancing. Then on the Friday a week later I forced myself to get back on the tubes because I knew that rationally 'something like that's unlikely to happen again'. Of course the tubes were fine, but when I got to the studios I discovered that my dance classes had switched over to their Summer timetable, and my classes were now on Thursdays, so I was going to have to wait another week for my lesson... which should have been this evening... you can see where I'm going with this, can't you? ;o)

So, I was all geared up to hop on the Northern Line and go into town for my class this evening, and look what happens. More than that, the tube station I would normally use? Warren Street.

It's a conspiracy, I tell you!
