My college was apparently voted the best place to go to college in the US. The link also features a video that reminded me of the one that closedcurtains posted the other day of her school.

Been too busy to post lately as work is NUTS, but I've been keeping up with all your entries.

House blog

I bought a house and I started a blog about rehabbing it:

Let me know what you think!
"That's how I train a hunter. And then both the horse and I do lots of drugs. Then sometimes I burn money as a sacrifice to the judges, who are also my mom's best friends from finishing school. Then it's time to jump, so, I balance on my toes and throw my body forward. But of course, the most important thing is that I have the latest trendy helmet, made from the recycled pages of Hunter Seat Equitation by George Morris (for which I can imagine no other practical use), and a bargain at $549.99!"

Myopia Hunt Club photos

Myopia yesterday was so awesome.

I was so proud of Ax. She has not been ridden consistently for 3 weeks-- last week was just too hot, the week before she was missing that shoe she lost on the beach, and the week before that she was really slow and sluggish and I was worried she had lyme so I didn't ride, so she's really only been ridden that one time at the beach in the past 3 weeks. I rode her the day before Myopia and she was nutty, running away and bucking when the guy over the fence started chopping wood, but she was awesome at Myopia, even with all the other horses running around in every direction.

I also can't believe what a brave jumper she is. We hardly did any jumps at the hunter paces, so this was her first time really schooling cross-country, and she was so forward and honest to these big, scary jumps. Not to mention, other than the hunter paces, she nor I have jumped in a few years. I've taken the trouble of setting up a crossrail in the arena at home maybe three times in the past two years. I'm not that thrilled with my equitation, but at least seeing the pics helps me figure out what I need to work on (not collapsing after the jump!).

Anyway, here are the pics!

huzzah! I love jumping photos...and my awesome mare :)

reminder: tack sale

For those in the area, don't forget about the tack sale/flea market tomorrow in Middleboro! It's rain or shine and there should be a lot of good deals!

10 Rogers Path, Middleboro
starts at 10 AM

Tack sale

One week from yesterday (Saturday March 27), Hanson Riding Club is having their annual tack sale in Middleboro, MA. Adam and I rented a space and we'll be selling saddles, bridles, bits, riding clothes, new and used chaps (full and half), and lots of other stuff. I know some of you are in the area, so if you need some cheap stuff, you should come and bargain hunt! Or rent a space to sell some stuff if you're like me and have way too much already :P My aunt is going to borrow a corner of our booth and sell some her equestrian artwork too.

Flyer Under the CutCollapse )

That said, I have a LOT of tack to clean this week to get it ready to sell! Eek!

A few choice photos from the trip

I thought I'd post some photos from the trip.

I'll start off with an LJ-themed photo:

Here is blauereiterin and I in scenic Newark, New Jersey.

I bought a beautiful pair of cowgirl boots in texas last night. Oh and smartpak called me for an over-the-phone interview! anyway i never really understood how vast and beautiful america is before this trip...gotta go, will update again soon. PS i've been able to read your entries on his phone but not comment so much, but will get to that later. Bye!

I was tagged by poisonous__:

A. List seven habits/quirks/facts about yourself.
B. Tag seven people to do the same.
C. Do not tag the person who tagged you or say that you tag "whoever wants to do it."

1. I played Brigitta in my high school's production of The Sound of Music my senior year. I had 36D boobs and a tattoo and I played a 9-year-old girl. In my junior year, I played a muleteer in Man of La Mancha. I miss acting.

2. I have an irrational love of pasta. It's my main comfort food.

3. Once a year or so I have to watch the extended versions of all three Lord of the Rings movies.

4. My horse is very versatile: I remember one summer I took her team penning (worked cattle in timed rounds) on Saturday nights, and went to hunter shows on Sunday mornings. She had an illustrious 9-year racing career before I owned her.

5. It took me 3 1/2 years to graduate college. I could have done it in 3 if I'd taken a summer course, but I wish I'd stayed for the full four.

6. One of my all-time favorite movies is Almost Famous, and when I first saw it when it came out, it caused me to have long-term girl crushes on Kate Hudson and Zooey Deschanel.

7. A bad thing about me is that I'm terribly indecisive when it comes to even small decisions in my life. I can give great advice to others, but when it comes to myself, every decision requires a huge amount of thought and internal debate. I rarely feel 100% sure about something.

Oh and I'm not tagging anyone :P
