I'm a man from Gainesville, Georgia who currently lives on the USS TORTUGA LSD-46; which bumps around the Western Pacific and is one hell of a crappy ship. I'm a mechanical engineer and primarily work on the ship's auxiliary equipment, stuff like loading cranes, the stern gate, aft steering, ect (if you don't have a clue what any of that stuff is, ask and you will be answered!)
I'm also a writer of stories, poetry, songs, and am an aspiring muscian looking to start a band when I get back to the states. I used to be obsessed with Japanese culture, since I was 10 I had always dreamed of going to Japan...Had to join the Navy to live the dream, and I'm pretty happy with how things have been going so far.
I currently call Sasebo City home, on the southern island of Kyushu; it's two hours south of Fukuoka and one hour north of Nagasaki. Rather a small base, but it's nice and quiet here. Nothing at all like Yokosuka's base. There's mountains covered in trees, the ocean all around, and the small city of Sasebo to hang around in when they actually let us off the ship.
I'm teaching myself how to play the shamisen, and have been teaching myself the Japanese language via books and anime with english subtitles. My ultimate dream is to one day own a teahouse, have a modestly popular band, and have a book or two published. Gotta aim high!
I'm a geek, and proud of it. I can truly say that I am a good man. I am love, passion, loyalty and fidelity; trust, honor, stability and strength. I am a sturdy fortress against the storms of the world, a bulwark against all hardships, and tenacious defiance in the face of certain defeat. I am a good man....and I am as wild and free as the wind.
Or at least I will be once I get out of the military!
WELCOME TO CHAOS, COMPILED AND CONCENTRATED! Strap yourselves in, I like it when they struggle!
I don't know if I should be proud or ashamed of this... ^_^'
