cass, can you not

A zeroth-level comment

It's interesting to note that most members of the Dox/Brainiac "lineage" have an ingrained tendency to collect, gather, or become part of groups. Brainiac I is, of course, an archetypal example, but Brainiac II created L.E.G.I.O.N./R.E.B.E.L.S., Brainiac V is a core L.E.G.I.O.N. member, and even Brainiac III's plan involved creating a sentient neutron star/AI (never a good idea). Perhaps, for all their fabled coldness, Coluans are a deeply gregarious society (net-mediated, like most of us *g*), and their (self-)exiled members miss this at some level.

(This is a Watsonian explanation, of course. From an (ironically) Doylean point of view, what's the point of a Holmes if you don't give him at least one Watson?)
