Based on last week's comics...

A few ways in which (different versions of) Reed Richards endanger universes (no spoilers for anything recent):

  • Becoming evil

  • Trying to fix everything

  • Trying to fix everything everywhere

  • Hands-off parenting

Note that when your daughter has a Richards-level intellect and your son has potentially godlike reality-altering powers, hands-off parenting is arguably the most dangerous item in this list.

Not a reader of FF here. Has Reed tried getting the daughter into the lab with him? Or would his wife not allow it?

Actually, when he grew disappointed (or bored) with the Marvel U's futurists (although not with Tony), he created the Future Foundation, a motley group of genius and super-genius children that include his kids, a clone of the Wizard, a living head, a robot gargoyle, etc.

I love the idea, and I love the spirit of it. I'm not so sure about the fact that by and large he has given them very little supervision (remember: probably one of the top accumulations of IQ in the planet, with access to a lot of the Baxter Building's hypertech, and almost no adult supervision). I understand his reasons ---he wants them to explore on their own, and he has been busy with the usual cosmic menaces, not to mention family tragedies--- but then he shouldn't complain when Val starts doing stuff like striking private deals with Uncle Doom.

Hmph. A healthy dose of von Doom pragmatism would do Reed Richards a world of good. Maybe they could work together by proxy through Valeria?

Val has invited Doom to join the Future Foundation, seemingly. He just showed up in a white cloak looking imposing.

Her private deal is to help him with brain damage he suffered during the Intelligencia storyline (suspiciously he's the only one so affected, although several other geniuses, including Reed, were captured). In return he'll help the Richards honestly.

We'll see how it goes. The writer seems to have avoided or ignored Unthinkable and Master of Doom canon consequences for now. Which I approve of.

I think those last two words may be unnecessary. ^_^

Nice to see Victor getting some non-adversarial screen time.

Er, figuratively speaking.

Val has been told by Future!Franklin that "All hope lies with Doom." So, yeah, I think at some point he'll do something Reed won't be wiling or able to, and Val wants him at hand for that.

All hope lies with Doom.

What a marvelous, minimalist, poetic line.

Also, hooray for time loops!
