Title: Professionals Study Logistics
Rating: PG13
Fandom: The A-Team AU prequel
Author Notes: The obvious prequel from my POV; it's not likely to surprise anyone.

Between what is and what should be, lies the plan.

The need for approval holding back a man born for violence. The antipsychotics dulling the reflexes of one of the best pilots in the world. The pain inside a young man who can convince anyone of anything, but can't convince himself of his own worth. The petty regulations and pettier minds that make the chain of command a crippling restraint.

If you can give that young man the father figure he has never sought... If you can arrange for the pilot's medication to be tampered into uselessness... If you can set up a coincidental meeting with the warrior, and then with the other two... And if you can tempt an old friend into betraying you, then you might end up exactly where you always need to be.

Three steps ahead. In control.

It gets better.

I had to struggle with myself not to use that phrase :).

Awesome icon, by the way. I downloaded and re-watched Taken after watching The A-Team, and, yep, it was as kick-ass as I remembered.

In my gun class, my instructor referred to the end fight in Taken as a prime example of combat strategy. I think how he worded it: there's two movies I've ever seen them get it right.

Taken was one of em' in regards to Liam waiting until the bad guy started to negotiate before shooting. Because you really can't talk and act at the same time. If ever taken prisoner, you can keep the bad person chatting with you, and that ensures that he/she/it is not putting holes in your buddies, or in this case, daughter.

A part of me repressed being fangirl-y in that instance, because I really wanted to be fangirl-y. I'm in a gun class. I'm in a gun class. I'm in a gun class. No squeaking!

There's hope. There's still hope, because I have yet to hold a gun and think to myself "I can kill Bruce's parents with this, if I wanted to..."

Even in that "whoa nelly, the responsibility!!?! What the hell are they thinking, giving me this?!" kind of way.

(I only thought of it now, and will likely have the thought cross my mind next range-date.)

I guess it's only natural that you take these kinds of obsessions with you into your life. Lots of martial arts comes into fic with me, and I take a lot of fic out the door with me into life. I'm sure it's the same with everybody.

Even...you. *points all pointy-like*

*sighs* If only. My life is painfully short on the kind of things I obsess about (and that's not even taking into account to dearth of sex :P).

Perhaps a new perspective:

Kon had sex, and he died.

Bart had sex, and he died.

I swear to God that if Tim gets some sex, he's going to die. Oh, and by the way, the latest villain plot is to get a chick to seduce him. AND THEN HE DIES!

So for a pretty procreational act, lots of death involved (if you want to look at this in the lens of things that we obsess over...)

Isn't that what pr0n is for?

((I love the word "dearth." I love you using it.))

That's a very good point. Immortality is within my grasp :P.

Darnit. I think the whole movie is now going to be disappointing as it can't possibly be this succinct and beautiful as this drabble.

*g* Thanks! In their defense, I'm pretty sure they weren't going for succinct, and if they measure beauty by the number of things exploding, they outdid Michelangelo.

True, and in some cases I do enjoy things exploding. However when you boil down the team in such raw elements its just so perfect.
