Going back to comics...

If you ever wanted to see Tim taking over Lexcorp and using their resources to bring Kon back to life (and there was a time when all of us wanted to see that), then Marvel is providing a very nice cross-universe analogue with Prince of Power #1, where an angsty teenage genius mythslaying billionaire (their words, not mine) is using the vast intellectual and material resources at his disposal to accomplish the most important thing in the world: bringing back his best friend.

Needless to say, highly recommended.

8D OMG. This is totally enough to get me to my comic shop tomorrow even though I'm sick. I WILL BRAVE THE OUT-OF-DOORS FOR THIS. Holy crap that sounds awesome.

Not being terribly familiar with the Marvelverse, is this something that can be just picked up? Or do I need reams of backstory to understand what's going on first? 'cause it sure sounds right up my ally... ^_^

Thanks!

Hrm. Good question. It's not part of any event or something like that at the moment, so I think it can be read by itself. The minimal necessary backstory is: Hercules was mankind's champion (the "prince of power"). Athena foresaw a new age/a new darkness/etc, and picked up a future new champion, teen genius and 7th smartest person on Earth, Amadeus Cho. Hercules "mentored" him (basically, they had a lot of adventures fighting evil while Herc also caroused, drank beer, etc; imagine an older Kon mentoring a young Tim :P). Amadeus & Herc became BFF. Then Hercules died saving the universe (actually Athena killed him in order to make the new age possible, although Amadeus doesn't know that yet), and Amadeus inherited both Herc's mace and the "Olympus Group", a *huge* multi-corporation that holds the greek pantheon's interests on Earth.

Thing is, after Herc's funeral Amadeus went to Tartarus to say goodbye to Hercules — only to be told that Hercules wasn't there. So Amadeus knows that Hercules is somehow, somewhere alive, and is using whatever resources he has (including the help of fellow super-genius Bruce Banner) in order to do so.
