I just...

YES. GO TIM GO! (Red Robin #3)

That is my Timmy. My crazy-smart disturbed crazy Timmy. I know what he found. I know what he figured out.

God, I love him so much.

Deadpool #13.

True Summary, redacted so it doesn't offend or spoil anyone: Wade wants to become a *bleep*, so he gets the biggest *bleeps* he can, dresses Bob as a *bleep*, and *bleeps* him with his *bleep* stick a lot. Then on an island Wade finds a *bleep* girl, and gets her to be his *bleep* in exchange for *bleeping* her *bleep*.

(Bleeped out words available on demand.)

a) Thank you for reminding me, since I just saw the Boy for what will the last time for a while and totally forgot about new comics day, and just gooooorged myself, and

b) I haven't been following everything, what do you think Tim found? Also...what's this business about him breaking Jason out of prison? Because that...that may be relevant to my interests.

a) You're welcome.

b) At the end of Final Crisis, we see a shirtless Bruce with a huge beard in what seems to be a prehistoric setting (either that, or Australia), drawing a Bat-symbol on a stone (there's other stuff, too, but it's Final Crisis-weird, and probably not as relevant). Now, given that Tim broke into an anthropological musem in Berlin and got something that he thinks is proof of Bruce being alive, my current best hypothesis is that he has found the stone with the symbol, which means that Bruce is, well, was alive in prehistoric times (remember that Bruce was hit by Darkseid's Omega beams in Final Crisis; true, Superman was holding his suited skeleton just after that, but hey, this is comics). So Bruce is technically recoverable, I think.

I don't remember much detail about the Jason thing. Jay was sent to Blackgate (under another name, I think?). After Bruce died Tim thought that he would have wanted to give Jason another chance, so he broke him out of prison (either teleport or arranged escape, I don't exactly remember). Either way, afterward the writers decided Jason had to had a psychotic break or something, because he went from Red Hood-crazy to Very, Very Crazy. Also they made Bruce leave a last message for Jason that pissed on decades of true love canon, but that's just my opinion. Anyway.

Oh! Oh, the bat symbol on the cave or the other symbol thing, I totally forgot about that. Oooh. (Oh God I need sleep.)

And, and, was this Blackgate business in Robin? And sorry, sorry, last question, do you remember which title had that message for Jason? Because I remember reading it but I need a reference, and I'm sure I have it around here somewhere but I can't track it down for whatever dumb reason.

Sorry for the delay. I have the worst memory for books and issue numbers, so I had to reread a few (I know, I know, the sacrifices I make *g*).

Tim got Jason out of jail in Robin #182. Jason saw Bruce's message in Robin #183. We learn of the content of Bruce's message (and the depths of DC hatred of Jason) in Battle for the Cowl #3.

Dude, you are a rock. star. Thank you so much!

(And I've decided I'm repressing Battle for the Cowl, partly because watching DC ruin great dramatic fodder like Jason is painful and partly because it makes me start asking the deeper questions in life, like why Tony Daniel has a job.)

:D If only all problems in life could be solved through comics... (come to think of it, it's more or less my default approach anyway).

(So with you there.)

Re: Red Robin #3

Yes. Yes yes YES! OMG I LOVE THIS TITLE SO MUCH! And I am so fucking glad someone else likes this Tim, because yes, this is Tim in all his brilliant, fucked up, crazy glory and wherever I look, people seem to be complaining about it. Well, fuck it, I love it. ♥♥♥

I know what he found. I know what he figured out.

It took me a while (I was busy flailing around with love and whatnot), but then it clicked that he was in an anthropology museum. Fuck, I love this. :D

Yeah, Tim still has some of his Robin instincts, although (like all Robins) he always brought something of his own to the role. I don't like the Red Robin suit or name, but the attitude is pure Tim.

Why am I just hearing about Red!Robin Tim? And he's a crazy Tim? GOOD GOD, YES.
Aug. 13th, 2009 08:23 pm (UTC)
:D "Crazy" is relative, of course. In his own Battish way, Tim is being very rational.

Well, there's batshit insane, and then there's BAT crazy, which is, y'know... genius so good its most-likely illegal.

It reminds me of an Aeon Flux ad that claimed Trevor Goodchild's IQ was illegally high.

I think I'm going to have to wait on the trades for Red Robin. I missed the first few issues of it and it's hell to get back-issues around here.

Re: Deadpool. I don't read it, but to amuse myself, I started trying to replace the bleeps with words that rhyme with bleep. If Wade hasn't dressed up as Little Bo Peep and made Bob dress as a sheep, I will be very sad.
Aug. 13th, 2009 08:25 pm (UTC)
Sadly, that's not it (although it would have been in character for both of them). But Wade does dress up as something, and does make Bob dress as an animal.

Red Robin Timmy is really growing on me.
Aug. 13th, 2009 08:26 pm (UTC)
Me too. It's pretty much Tim being Tim.
Aug. 13th, 2009 08:27 pm (UTC)
Which is in such supply these days.
