Title: Beyond the Sixth Day
Fandom: Torchwood
Rating: PG18 because of potential angst.
Spoilers: For Children of Earth
Summary: Three things that maybe happened afterwards.
Author Notes: More short notes than anything else.
Warnings: It's post-CoE.

How do you arrange for transportation on a cold fusion cruiser on the outskirts of the Solar System? Easy. You just tell the 456 who you are and what you did. You'll die many times, of course.

That's just a bonus. There are still ten kids to save.

Absenteeism spiked in 10% of schools. It was only to be expected. The less-educated, well, they don't value education, do they? There's only so much the government can do.

Except for one school. New. Big. Very open. Seems like everyone of a certain class wants to send their kids there, and they do accept anyone. Rumor says they have some sort of political pull. Otherwise you can't explain the armed teachers, or the weird things they teach in there about aliens and whatnot.

But no parent with their child's best interests in mind would send him to Torchwood Academy.

Everybody knows where they Chinese and the Indian are getting their advanced technology from, and what they are paying it with.

An urgent NATO meeting agrees on securing a convenient source of extra-organization units. They are already losing almost every auction on the 456 frequencies.

First thing: OF COURSE.

Second thing: You do wonder how the working class feels post-CoE - even if everything smoothes over, no government will ever regain the trust of those generations of parents and children.

And as for the last, it's perfectly in tune with CoE's ultra-pessimistic view of governments and it still managed to chill me.

That's my version of a hopeful ending for Jack, not that I don't buy what cannon showed.

True. I wonder if that would lead to even greater marginalization from the government.

cass, can you not
