It was complex enough to be thought of as an organism, smart enough to be said to have feelings, and designed so those feelings would always be of love.

Well, I think the Hive Mind is constituted in such a way that its response is overdetermined in this case. Whether that says anything meaningful about you is, I think, debatable.
