I've been feeling the need to write longer pieces; I'm getting into something of a rut. This, however, isn't one of those.

Title: Skills useful to a young boy on his way to become the Batman
Rating: PG13
Fandom: DCU

Detecting begins with observing oneself; your biases, your preconceptions, the subtle distortions in the instrument that is your mind. Escape artistry, too, is a proactive art. It is a poor practitioner who lets himself be chained before he has ready a way out. And if you can accept pain beyond mere endurance, you can use your body to fight instead of fighting for it.

You have learned to see in yourself the beginnings of love, to cut yourself out from the loved person at once, to use that pain as motivation.

I think my testicles just retired from duty. Forever.

It's not always, but I guess that sometimes thinking with your genitals is the smart thing to do.

I can't write porn, so I can't judge quality, but we do have different styles... Of course, the same can be said of writers I adore madly.

I just thought it was amusing that there were 2 fics related to "skill" right next to each other, especially when combining the titles meant that a useful skill in becoming Batman is...yeah. :P The fics themselves are obviously completely unrelated and incomparable, just a weird coincidence.

Longer fics would be cool, but no pressure. No pressure. ^_^

This is lovely, and I can believe Bruce thinks it's true.

However, I don't think it's true of him at all, which underpins a lot of my Bruce-related thoughts.

Thanks! I agree - for a self-described loner, he is remarkably good (and consistent) at attaching and getting attached to people.
