Oh, Torchwood. You are my favoritest awesome amoral all-creepy-all-the-time bumbling oblivious wannabe MIBs fuckups ever. EVER.

And, Dexter? There isn't a single character in the show that isn't somehow fucked up bad, and Dexter is still the most adorable serial killer ever. He's what happens if you cross a teddy bear with Hannibal Lecter's DNA and give him a nice shirt and a weird parental unit.

I'm not even asking if there is fanfic with Dexter working for Torchwood. In my deepest of hearts, I know there must be. C'mon, Torchwood didn't know about that thing in the first story! Or what was going on in their own basement! Or... You get my point. Dexter could dismember people in Jack's office and they wouldn't even *know*. Hell, he'd probably be their Token Sane Person.

Seriously. I bitched about Torchwood being so *bad* as a team, but once you embrace the Dark and Bumbling Around Being Amoral And Having Sex Side, it's loads of loads of fun. I'm not sure how many bad things they weren't actually responsible for in the first place they have stopped so far, but I've come to understand that it's not the point of the series.

ETA: Two cases out of eight eps weren't Torchwood's own doing: Small Worlds and Countrycide. In all the others, they enabled like whoa everything that happened. Go Team Torchwood!

Best descriptions of team Torchwood and Dexter, ever!

OMG, that's totally how it'd be, isn't it? Oh, Torchwood. It's adorable, really. ♥

As dysfunctional as they are, my take is that things would be a lot worse without them. Minus the Suzie effect, I think that although the trigger more things (being on the front line and exposed to more things), these are pretty much things that were already going to be triggered.

I'd add two or three, off the top of my head, to things that Torchwood didn't cause:

The Ghosts one, Bernie had already found the alien device and found out he was going to die *before* Torchwood got their hands on it. Their involvement meant that the rapist died, but the theif didn't and -my take- Owen was going to die when Gwen saw the future, but didn't (which explains the slight differences in dialogue between what she said in the vision, and what was actually said when it happened). Torchwood's involvement was neutral to positive, since the only effect of their actions was Edwin dying instead of Bernie, and they got posession of the device.

The alien heart-eating one from the Tosh episode was already released and killing by the time Torchwood found her prisonship. She got involved with Tosh in order to get access to the prisonship, but if Torchwood hadn't taken it, she probably would have got it anyway. Torchwood's involvement was neutral to positive -they didn't cause anymore harm than had already occured, Tosh did directly save two people's lives, they stopped the alien from escaping. Torchwood didn't cause anything to happen and they didn't enable it to keep on happening.

Cerys, the alien would have been released from the meteor by someone else if Gwen hadn't done it, since all it took was a small tap and the meteor would have been drilled for samples by any scientific group, if Torchwood hadn't been there. I doubt they made anything worse, and it's likely that without them, the Cerys-alien would have killed a lot more people.

Torchwood is responsible for Lisa's actions and Suzie's, but the others are debatable.
