Title: Where questions go unasked
Note: Spoilers for the latest 52... which I haven't read beyond the scans_daily posts and assorted f-list reactions. You'll need to have seen the scans -or at least have heard about them- for this ficlet to make sense. And even then it won't.
Super-special note from TPTB: NOTHING IN THIS STORY IS SUPPORTED BY ONE IOTA OF OFFICIAL CANON. IT'S BASELESS SPECULATION, AND IS TO BE DISMISSED AS SUCH.
"I thought questions were my business, Richard."
"Possibly I've spent too much time in your company. Why do you want her to take your place?"
"Because somebody should always ask the important questions, and I'm not going to be here for a while."
"You are letting go of this world with more ease than I would have expected the first time I met you."
"The world changed a few months ago, and I don't have all the pieces of the puzzle yet. There are answers I need in other worlds, and I'd rather not have anybody know I'm looking for them."
The man lit a cigarette and stepped through the dimensional gate.
