cass, can you not

Because LJ is all about those things that take over your mind

I've been kind of obsessing for the last few days over Edna St. Vincent Millay's "Dirge Without Music". It's been one of my favorite poems for years, I can still remember when and where I first read it, how it hit me. It says things that I've felt and known, but put them in words and rythms that have probably affected me as it described me.

At moments, it's almost too *precise* to feel quite real. It's has no damn weak lines, but the phrase "Be one with the dull, the indiscriminate dust." has for some reason being haunting me since sometime last week, almost making me say it aloud now and then, just out of the sheer flow of sound and meaning.

If it were a person, it'd feel like falling again for one of your first and truest loves *g*.
