cass, can you not

What I'm learning from my comica_obscura challenge...

Even if you feel you know the character, that doesn't help you very much if you've never tried to write that kind of story; it's easier to write an unknown character with a familiar plot that vice versa.

In unrelated news, I'm actually thinking about scaling down my comics reading. There's no way I'm going to miss the "Luthor" mini, of course, but other than that... I don't think I'm ready to go through a "War Games"-sized mess during "Crisis".

At this point, I think I get most of my comics enjoyment from the nerding out (character analysis, meta, continuity stuff, the neverending mythological stuff) and the pretty pictures than from the stories themselves. Plot-wise, with Sleeper in a bit of a down and Legion a promising but still unknown quantity, I can't really think of a book I'm following out of interest for the story, instead of due to my love for the characters.

I don't know. I'll have to think more about this.
