Summary: Strategic mistakes can be costly to everybody involved.
The alien armada approached Earth in deadly stealth. Or so they thought.
Planetary defense systems, a mixture of kryptonian sensor technology and the finest human integration engineering, detected them much farther away than they'd have expected. The invaders switched then to full attack mode, hoping to quickly obliterate what they expected to be Earth's weak defenses.
The combination of Superman's almost complete local-area dominance and EarthForce's wide array of technological weapon systems -backed by the tactical advice of a twelfth-level genius- was anything but weak. The attacking armada's survivors would have reported that.
Had there been any.
Luthor sighed in annoyance and started reprogramming his simulation parameters. It was a richer, stronger planet than every one he simulated without either his presence or the alien's.
Somewhere there was a bug in his simulation code. He hated that.
