Together with her legs, she had lost silence. It felt strange, now, being able to approach his bed unheard and unseen. Forbidden in more than one sense. But she needed to know. She needed to understand.

He was happy. Safe. Glad. Father, said his shoulders. Mother, said his hands.

Fear, said his forehead, but it was a fear behind and beyond what he was seeing now. It was a deep dread. His body knew.

And now, screamed his entire body, he saw. No said his arms. Please said his face. Not again was written in his back.

His shoulders twitching told her about every shot. His strangled cry the tears he hadn't given.

She went away.

The next time, she went to his bed before he entered the alley of his nightmares, and willed herself to sleep with her body touching his.

She would try to dream of stopping the killer.

Perhaps then they could both get some peace at night.

God, I can't even imagine what watching Bruce's nightmares would be like for someone like Cass. Wow. And "the alley of his nightmares" is a beautiful phrase.

"His shoulders twitching told her about every shoot." I think you want 'shot' instead of 'shoot' there.

Fixed. Thanks for catching that!

Trying to imagine Cass' worldview is scary; specially when she keeps getting near people who, one would think, doesn't have very peaceful inner lives..

She would try to dream of stopping the killer.

Well, the killer stands no chance. No chance at all.

I love your Oracle!Cass, she's... frightening and adorable. I wonder where is Babs in this universe. Something tells me she scalated at leat une step up the scary ladder.

I never even thought about what watching the Bats sleep would be like for Cass. Wow.

Yeah, killer has no chance.

Can Steph talk body language? If that came to happen, the possibilities would be... interesting. In ways other than -although not instead of- porn, even.

... Now I want someone to write Cass watching Steph sleep. And dream.

That was lovely! You wrote her reading nonverbals so well...and yes to what everyone said, watching Bruce dream would be like watching a gigantic terrible oration.
