TBBT - Sheldon mouse ears

hello friends!

I seem to have a habit of posting every 3-5 months... I lead a very dull and boring life, therefore I never feel like I have anything to say. However, I do have art today!

It's been almost a year since I promised arts for money for the CIBC Run for the Cure in support of breast cancer research and a few are below:

OMG, you guys, I was really hoping for $250 by the end of today but it went past that. So far, you have donated $305 to the CIBC Run for the Cure. ♥ ♥ ♥

lauriegilbert (who's also doing the run but at another location, boo) has informed me that donations can actually be made up until the end of October. My team leader lady person told us that today was the deadline so I was pushing for today. But since the deadline isn't actually until over a month from now, I'll still continue to spam you with this stuff. :D

Seriously, thank you for all your support.

AND! If you've donated and haven't done so already, please email me at gina@hibi-esque.com to tell me what kind of art you would like because I would like to send everyone that donated some art as a token of appreciation.

a plea for support

After a long and hard battle, one of the ladies in my office succumbed to breast cancer on August 4, 2009. She was barely in her 30's. Kam was a bright, caring and inspirational individual and she will be missed.

A group of us at work have signed up to participate in the CIBC Run for the Cure taking place on October 4, 2009 at Nathan Philips Square in downtown Toronto. We signed up while Kam was still alive and now that she's gone, it makes the walk/run so much more meaningful. I regret that it had to take the death of someone we know personally before we took action.

Each individual on my team is required to raise at least $150. I would like to blow past that and raise as much as I can. Please show your support by donating whatever you'd like, whatever you can. I would be grateful to you even if you donated just one dollar - every dollar takes me closer to my fundraising goal. But as an added incentive: EACH PERSON THAT DONATES $25 OR MORE WILL RECEIVE AN 8x10 COMMISSION-STYLE ARTWORK. I am not above bribery. :P Nor am I above using Dumbledore quotes to equate solidarity with breast cancer.

ETA: I would like to send a thank-you card via snail-mail to everyone who donates, so if you are comfortable with sharing your address please email me at gina @ hibi-esque.com with it and your name. Addresses are a must, as is a description of the fanart you want, if you will be taking advantage of my bribe!

The Canadian Cancer Society estimates that 75,300 Canadians will die of various forms of the disease and 171,000 new cases will be diagnosed in 2009 alone1. Help me change those statistics. Help me conquer cancer in our lifetime.

Pimp on, if you are so inclined!

cibc run for the cure

Has anyone ever done one of those Run for the Cure type things for breast cancer? I signed up with a bunch of girls from my work and we're doing the CIBC Run for the Cure in October. I was just curious to see if anyone's done it before, how it was and how best to go about getting donations / monetary support. Door to door? Family members? I can't go to work people because they're doing the same.

Our CEO was diagnosed with breast cancer a few years ago and it went into remission. But it came back in a more aggressive form in January. She passed away last week. She was one of the nicest, fairest and strongest individuals I knew. She touched so many lives; the chapel was packed with people for her funeral a few days ago. It was heartbreaking to see and speak to her husband and parents. She was only in her early 30's. Rest in peace, KK.
