NEW SODAGREEN VIVALDI PROJECT ALBUM :D:D
I THOUGHT THEY'D GIVEN UP ON IT ;A;

DAICHI I LOVE YOU
SHOTA I LOVE YOUR FACE

Kiseki:
Koreeda films are like those sweets that get more flavourful the longer you savour them lol?
Start off dozy/disconnected
(you can literally pause them, go away and come back to them the next week
without feeling any sense of urgency),
but - unbeknownst to you - the threads are winding tighter and tighter
till (quite sudddenly) WAITASECONDI'MTEARINGUP WHEN- WHAT- HOW-
Plus the attention to detail makes repeat viewing so awfully rewarding. <3

FILMING IN VEGAS?!
WHAT IS ITTT.
MV for a repackage?
In my ideal world this would mean a bromance-laden prologue to the One Shot MV, heh. :>
(...it can't be a new mini... right? Wouldn't put it past TS, but. O.O O.O)

OT but wouldn't it be pretty awesome
if some group had all their MVs happen in the same 'verse?
Like an AU fanfic that develops with every new song lolol.

E and I were bemoaning our common lack of motivation leading up to the exams.
YT's her new favourite hangout; I marathoned Tiger & Dragon
(no regrets bc AMAZING SHOW but whoa my timing really is the worst, isn't it).
Sigh. It's the last lap - why are we slowing down, not speeding up?
AND I STILL HAVEN'T DONE JAPANESE REVISION YET, what the heck.

SQUEEE Hashimoto Ai and Ochiai Motoki are actually dating irl awww *O*

So... a 'breather' from studying turned into a 5-hour break. ><

I've been on such a Miho kick lately;
I adore her voice so muchhh urgh.

And IEIRI LEO.
Finally caught up with the rest of the Shine songs
and overall it's a super-solid single - really showcases her composing range.
I don't know, it's just incredibly exciting to be there when someone with so much potential
begins (what I presume will be) her ascent to fame.

Also: Koyuki's spread with herXMatsuken's child is perfect.
She's glowing,
and it doesn't feel exploitative at all.
Makes me want to have kids of my own, negl.

nong nong post.

It's been an exciting few weeks in my corner of Jpop-/Kpop-/Jdrama-/Kdrama-land.
(Seriously, everything is happening all at once to artistes I care about.
My heart ;__;)

-Arashi
OKAY. BLOW-BY-BLOW OF THE WILD AT HEART PV:
--00:15: Sho posing, like a boss.
--00:18: Sho adjusting his suit, like a boss.
--00:21: Sho adjusting his tie... like a boss.
(Sho trying to win at life is somehow hilarious/hot at the same time.)
--00:24: Aiba... jerking his body back and forth. Hmm.
--00:32: Ohno, fist-pumping frantically for no particular reason.
--00:33: Nino, lip-syncing very emotionally. While having perfect hair.
Some things are just unfair, idek.
--00:39: Sho manages to be super-gorgeous at this particular moment.
It took me so long to pause the PV at the correct point,
I got too distracted by the hot (and ~shiny eyes~) the first three tries.
--00:44: First appearance of the elusive!Ohno!snaggletooth. <3
--00:53: Shaky camera, two narrow walls. This bodes well.
--00:56-01:00: THIS MIGHT BE MY TOP MOMENT IN THIS PV OKAY.
I LOVE THAT IT'S SO SUBTLY HILARIOUS.
Ohno contorting himself into a ridiculous position
AND SHIFTING TO ANOTHER EQUALLY-RIDICULOUS POSITION VERY DELIBERATELY
(not forgetting to emote dramatically throughout!)
will never get old.
--01:04: Nino looks so good here.
And d'aww at the fact that he's pointing to Jun
(something I find Nino does very often?
I mean, directing the attention to the person that's the main for the song/occasion,
e.g. Aiba during MSSLs since his birthday always coincides with that.
I love Nino for it.).
--01:05: Jun, attempting to crawl out of the narrow space with an A+ facial expression.
I haven't been mentioning Jun much, but rest assured he's his normal exciting self -
just overdosing on glee and rainbows, like all of Arashi seem to be.
--01:08: Ohno is still in that position. It looks uncomfortable, to say the least.
--01:10: The Snaggletooth Reappears.
--01:13: Beautiful Jun! There you go. <3
--01:18: Aiba is back to jerking his body around. ...WAIT.
You know, maybe that's a body wave...? O.O
--01:23: Sho. OH, SHO. Never change.
--01:29-02:02: YAY SHINY SUITS AND SPARKLES. This set is too pretty, I can't.
And that choreo is adorable and makes me laugh so freaking hard. <33
You can tell Jun is totally in his element!
They should definitely give Arashi more 1980s' disco to sing.
--02:05: The much-anticipated Box.
I don't actually like these scenes a lot, mostly because there's not much going on
aside from compromising poses, lol.
And it's terribly headachy to try to figure out which limbs belong to whom.
Best bits: Nino SHIFTING HIS WHOLE BODY TO LIE ON THE FLOOR,
THEREBY TAKING UP MORE SPACE;
Aiba and Sho's obvious closeness (aww <3).
--02:19: Aiba flicking dirt off his shoulder is actually kind of hot.
...OKAY. SOMEONE KILL ME NOW.
--02:25: More Sakuraiba BFF-ery!
--02:28: I have no idea what Nino, Aiba and Sho are doing at this point
but I DON'T EVEN CARE.
--02:31: Sho singing with the rest of them just walking past, lol.
--02:34: Aiba, pretending to swim.
--02:41: Aiba being overenthusiastic makes me happy.
Also, sunglasses are off and gorgeous boys are gorgeous.
--02:46: AIBA'S HEAD IS ON SHO'S CROTCH. Both look remarkably unconcerned about the fact.
--02:52: I find Jun's happiness at this moment is awfully endearing.
--02:57: I love how Jun missed the 'act panicky!' memo
and just sort of casually leans on one wall
while doing cool MJ hand gestures
and coolly-lodging his other hand in his pocket.
--02:59: AIBA hahahaha.
--03:03: The heel of Ohno's shoe is... pushing against Nino's crotch. O.o
I'm willing to bet that the disappearance of Nino's foot between Ohno's legs
means essentially the same thing.
--03:07: Aiba takes off his suit(?!).
Aiba in this PV is quite-evidently a bundle of incomprehensible decisions.
--03:24/03:55: Nino, why so attractive!
--03:44: Ohno, from an unflattering ('but adorable', trucksized bias nudges) angle.
--04:11: JUN, in a glorious return to his awkward teenage days. ILUSM, Matsumoto.

-Marriages
asdfliqwnv' Shun and Yamada Yu were married on 14 March.
So, so glad for them -
I wish them all happiness. <3
Eek and Jun's congratulatory message was terribly aww-inducing. xD

ALSO: I LEARNT THAT THE YUZU GUYS GOT HITCHED A FEW MONTHS BACK?
(NO NOT TO EACH OTHER HAHAHA)
WITHIN A MONTH OF EACH OTHER?
That is just so cute.
I literally squee-ed for a few seconds when I found out.
CONGRATS, YUJIN. CONGRATS, KOJI. <3333
Looking forward to more awesome music, as always.

-Lucky 7
I had thought that my interest would dissipate with Eita's departure,
but I'm hanging on(!).
They've sort of managed to fill the gap with more Oizumi Yo and Naka Riisa,
which is always good.
The show is still most alive during Jun's buttkicking sequences
(I AM LEGIT AWED BY JUN'S MOVES, did he actually go for lessons?),
but I've sort of settled into a rhythm with it.
It's really just a matter of adjusting expectations, I think -
whatever you do, don't watch thinking you'll get intelligent crimes.
It's more investigation-lite + dusting of frivolous banter. xD

-Strawberry Night
THIS DRAMA.
IS MINDBLOWING (EPISODE TENNNN WHY ARE YOUR SUBS TAKING SO LONGGGGG?
Edit: EPISODE ELEVEN COULD NOT COME SOON ENOUGH ;___;).
The SP was a bit iffy for me
but. Let me just say.
If you want a strong-female-cop drama,
this is so, so much better than Boss.
SO, SO MUCH BETTER, OKAY.
The characters aren't kooky for the sake of being kooky
(apart from Ioka, who is totally hilarious and thus excusable);
it isn't afraid to stray to slightly-darker territory;
the cases are complex, well-structured and not completely predictable.
And the requisite ~opposition~ from male colleagues is far from two-dimensional -
I like that more than the standard you-are-a-female-why-are-you-here stuff
(though there definitely is still some of that),
the friction is played as tension between opposing styles of investigation,
and that it is made clear that all said styles have their advantages/drawbacks.
Oh, AND. That barely-there hint of UST between Himekawa and Kikuta is hot, negl. B)

-Ojakgyo Brothers
Before this, I'd never have expected myself to enjoy - AND ACTUALLY COMPLETE -
a 50+ episode Kdrama.
Yet this was exactly what I found myself doing.
OB is GOOD. Very good.
Okay, so standard drama plot devices abound
(at last count, non-biological parents, an illegitimate son,
star-crossed lovers, age gap romance and a shotgun wedding),
and the script sags at points,
but the beauty here lies in the sensitivity
with which the Ojakgyo family members/their relationships are rendered.
You can feel the scriptwriters' love for the characters:
they remain immmensely likeable despite their foibles and mistakes,
and it's an utter pleasure to watch their tangents of growth -
and journeys to redemption, for some -
unfold.
And although one of the best parts of the drama is that
you end up caring about ALL the relationships
(in particular, the dynamic amongst the four brothers, and Ga Eun X Mum),
not just the two main characters' romance,
it doesn't hurt that Joo Won and Uee are all sorts of adorbs together. xD

-2AM
I am so in love with this mini-album.
I don't get the people who say that
'hardly any song going above mid-tempo range' --> 'boring'. :((
The songs are so incredibly beautiful, both as individual pieces and as a whole.
Favourites: I Love You I Love You, You Were Mine and I Wonder If You Hurt Like Me.
And the MV must have set a record for the highest-ever 2AM MV budget, haha.

-CNBLUE
CNBLUE's third mini-album is set to drop on 27 March,
and they've already released the MV for Yonghwa's self-composed song ('Still In Love').
I LOVE IT.
It's simple - just them chilling/recording -
but Minhyuk is growing up SO nicely(!!) and Yonghwa's voice is awesome.
Jungshin's hair remains enviably-smooth and Jonghyun remains hot.

-SHINee
The Sherlock MV teaser is out -
the choreo looks great and the colours (+ Key's nail polish, lol) are gorgeous.
Not a huge fan of the song itself
but moderately certain that the performances (leapfrogging! yay!)/sheer pretty
will make up for it.
The mini has also been released,
and though overall it's not as catchy/excellent as I would have expected
(and Jjong's voice - as much as I adore the boy -
gets rather grating after a while)
I absolutely love The Reason and Honesty (and Alarm Clock is fast growing on me).
I've got a soft spot the size of China for ballads/bare-bones arrangements,
so there you go.
(EDIT: Jjong's lyricsssss <333)

-Sherlock, BBC
The most unexpected consequence of SHINee's album release for me, lol.
There was this humongous (and hilarious) fanwar going on
regarding tumblr tags (fangirling is srs!bsns!),
and amidst walls of penises (idek) and Key
and WHAT ARE THESE TOPLESS KOREAN GIRLS DOING IN OUR TAG posts
I decided to give in to the hype and try it out.
DID NOT REGRET IT.
My favourite thing about it:
the way the creators managed to transplant the stories
into a modern setting
without losing what made Sherlock so good -
the self-destructive antihero-cum-genius,
the reliance on out-of-this-world deduction
(as opposed to techno-gimmicks, like most crime procedurals),
the Watson-Sherlock BFF-ery (in fact, this is far more obvious here) -
AND managing to avoid (mostly) the whole shebang looking awkward/anachronistic.
I also liked those small intricacies that scream 'WE'RE HAVING FUN WITH THIS':
the titles/the basing of the crimes off actual Sherlock crimes,
stupid things like how Sherlock came to be associated with that detective cap
(which he hates, in case you didn't know).

Favourite episode by far = The Reichenbach Fall.
Pure nailbiting tension -
watching the noose close round Sherlock's neck,
Moriarty's gleeful insanity/utter genius
(btw, I ALWAYS thought it was pronounced Mo-RYE-arty!
MY LIFE HAS BEEN A LIE.).
Can't wait for installment #4.

Thank you, Lord,
for the MacLennan, for the better-than-expected exam grades.
Even the unsatisfactory essay/prac marks.
To Your glory only, truly. And may it always be so.
'Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought,
but rather think of yourself with sober judgment,
in accordance with the measure of faith GOD has given you.'

Such an excellent reminder.

All the Onew theories are legit beginning to worry me. ><
Please be okay, bb. ;__;
Nothing will surprise me after Jin X Meisa's
nah they're just friends --> Meisa is pregnant + they're going to get married -->
WAIT THEY ALREADY ARE MARRIED, OVER THE SPAN OF A FEW DAYS.
(The uproar on Arama was cute, though xD -
all these casual fans emerging from the woodwork to duke it out in '!!'s and '?!'s.)

B.A.P:
I haven't been this invested in a group since forever.
They are so good, especially considering their age/inexperience.
And I can actually tell them apart now!
Which (surprisingly -
or maybe not-so-surprisingly, given my voracious viewing appetite for all things B.A.P)
didn't take too long.
One thing that is bugging me, though: Daehyun's surgery.
Because I am utterly horrible at these things,
I can't figure out whether he merely corrected an overbite
or got massive jaw work done (yes, two very different things!).
I wish I KNEW - now I pay regular visits to his predebut Youtube vids
just to pause them and see whether I can tell what went down in-between then and now.
Lololol I'm so far gone. xD

resolutions, revolutions

My goal for the coming school year:
not to let self-consciousness get in the way of
expressing generosity/kindness.

Sigh, it ought to be easier than it is. ><

Found this while thumbing through 193810592 journal entries/reminiscing.
It's baffling, really -
how much one's tastes can change within the short space of two(++) years.
I know I'm a hormonal, still-growing (or so I hope) 20-year-old, but. Seriously.

So. Well. The new-and-improved sHOrTLIST (What do you know, I'm wittier too!):

- SHINee: Key.
I can't with this guy - sometimes he literally takes my breath away.
So gorgeous, whether in photoshoots, performances or the occasional paparazzi pic
(questionable fashion choices/terrible hair notwithstanding).

- Arashi: Aiba, Jun, Ohno.
I've never seen a bad picture of Aiba (no mean feat given a 12-year career).
Jun's stunning.
Ohno's beauty - less in the face, more in the grace! (I'm just outdoing myself today, aren't I. orz)
The movements, the voice... the unintendedness of the entire package. <3

- SHOTA.  :):)
Unconventional, but. Love Shuffle? Liar Game??
Don Quixote??? (Okay, just kidding. I haven't watched it yet.)
There's a certain air about him.
He oozes charisma from every (invisible) pore.
(And is fabulously-dorky offscreen, lol.)

- Miura Haruma.
So pretty. <3
And has wonderful facial structure, as Bones would say.

- Kimutaku.
I never really got Kimutaku's appeal till I actually watched his dramas.
You know how people say certain stars just have it? The X-factor?
HE DOES.
It doesn't matter what the role in question is - he brings that additional magnetism to it.

How is this possible: Lonely Rain gets more amazing upon repeated listens.

yarukizero's Beautiful World con reports sound wonderful.
Can't wait for the DVD release.

The Sakuraiba HnA episode was love.
I really, really hope they film a similar episode for Ohmiya :D:D:D
(Maybe for the upcoming Kaibutsu-kun movie? One can hope.)
I loved how Sho seemed genuinely moved by Aiba knowing his favourite foods.
And Aiba's ingenious!ideas for a beach date
(I'd actually like to try the sumo tube - it looks like fun,
provided I don't fall off the second I get on xD).
And Aiba failing at cooking.
...And Aiba building Sho an Everest of a sand penis
(EDIT: Aiba apparently built boobs as well,
according to a comment on aatash's post? Oh, Aiba.).
I LAUGHED SO HARD, YOU HAVE NO IDEA.
30-YEAR-OLDS BEING IMMATURE TOGETHER EVIDENTLY NEVER GETS OLD
(GET IT GET IT?).
How did that even get through the editors, anyway?
But it's always nice to be reminded that,
underneath the blander programming,
Aiba is still your resident overgrown teenager.

A few days late,
but I just read the omona post on Boom/Suju's racist infraction,
and here's what I think:
it all rests on whether
(a) they were making fun of black people in general, or
(b) if they were parodying a specific person (some are suggesting Stevie Wonder).

If the former, it WAS blackface and should be condemned.
If the latter, the dark makeup was merely an attempt
to get as close to a person’s look as possible.
Yes, an insensitive, hurtful attempt
completely disregarding the history of painting one's skin darker,
but nevertheless not 'blackface' as traditionally-defined.
You can say lack of intent to offend doesn't justify an action,
but - for me, at least - being ignorant of racist subtleties is (while by no means right)
is by far the lesser sin compared to purposefully playing on racial stereotypes to generate laughs.

So, the bottom line is, any omona-esque oppa-did-mean-it hollering is probably premature,
since there is essentially no way of telling if (a) or (b) was the case
without any actual vids of what Boom actually did in that getup.
It seems kind of strange to be sending accusations/defences flying left and right
based on some stills, which -
despite being rather incriminating -
provide an incomplete picture of the situation.

If (b) was in fact the case, however,
there still remains the possibility of Boom making disability-related jokes as part of his spoof,
which is a whole other issue on its own
(one as UGH as racism).
BUT. Similarly, judgment should be reserved till after the vids are released.

On less touchy issues,
Matsuken and Koyuki are having a baby!!
One thing I can say: odds are, he/she's going to be awfully attractive.
So happy for them. <33
Also: the cute guy from Maou is getting married. :)

There's going to be a new H!S!J song called Beat Line,
which sounds like it's going to be awesome as well.
Loving the kiddos' music is getting to be a trend, I tell you.
I even like the Magic Power song they did for the Smurf movie(!).
AND. SPEAKING OF THE SMURF MOVIE.
That blue carpet clip with Chinen and Yamada?
When. did. Yamada. get. so. attractive.?!
oh mj ilu

(no subject)

The MatsuKen X Koyuki marriage makes me feel so happy.
I hope they last - they seem awesome together. <3

And MatsuKen's press conference was utterly adorable.
This man, I can't even. x)
He's obviously basking in newlywedded-ness -
his answers are positively giddy. xD
Guh, the cute kills:

-When did you realize that you two are now a married couple?
“When Koyuki went to the election, her last name was Matsuyama.
*SQUEE~*
I hope we can have happy life with our future kids
while supporting each other.”

<3333

And LOL at all the comments on arama
on the fact that Koyuki now has a last name.
