Best of Crimes, Worst of Crimes...

Quick one, my latest commentary's up. Anyone in the St. Louis area can hear it live on NPR during Morning Edition this morning at 7:33 a.m. The podcast will be up sometime after it airs for the second time. I sucked it up and listened through their live streaming option this morning at 5:33, now I understand the whole Mother/Author/Student subject lines of various emails...still not used to hearing my own voice.

Will pop on later to tell my other news!

You can take the girl out of the Midwest...

What American accent do you have?
Your Result: The Midland

"You have a Midland accent" is just another way of saying "you don't have an accent." You probably are from the Midland (Pennsylvania, southern Ohio, southern Indiana, southern Illinois, and Missouri) but then for all we know you could be from Florida or Charleston or one of those big southern cities like Atlanta or Dallas. You have a good voice for TV and radio.

The Inland North
The South
The Northeast
The West

What American accent do you have?

Is anyone else impressed at how exact they can pinpoint where you grew up? Good to know about that radio thing, I just got notice another commentary will run next week. Will post details closer to the day.

"real women have curves" hehe

So I was just checking in and catching up on my pseudonym's blog after a long absence - http://aimee-ferris.livejournal.com/

and noticed someone slammed me for my cover! As you can see from my pics or those who've met me in person, it is kind of funny that I'd be in the position of having to retort to a "real women have curves" accusation that I am furthering an unhealthy body image. I know I should feel spoiled. Other than the one crazed Shatner non-fan major profanity-filled flameage after I posted about my bizarro-land dream, I've never had any negative comments on the blogs. I hope I handled it okay.

As far as the other blog goes, I am catching up friending folks from this one from that one...if that makes any sense at all. And in response to someone else's question, the bio is not made up. It's just a pre-Taco bio of the stuff I did since that blog address is on the book jacket and in the catalogue and I don't want all the Taco stories to be quite so public.

We Made It!

And...WE LOVE IT!

We are having such a blast! Still up to our ears in boxes. Still in search of a preschool for Taco. Still in search of doughnuts for Taco who is slowly adjusting to the idea that there isn't a Tim Horton's "baby doughnut store" on every corner. Understandable that he would be perplexed considering there were 63 Tim's locations in the city we moved from. Yes, 63. In one city. Insane. So Taco is being weaned from his doughnut addiction onto a temporary chocolate chip hazelnut Bread Alone scone replacement. Kind of like those folks who use methadone to kick the heroin. I think the process is going well.

Awooooooooo!!!

That was me sounding like a wolf. So we've been spending as much time as possible with Roomie and her little guy while we can. We are all carefully avoiding the thought of not living within a mile of each other and making the most of the time we've got. We've done days to the beach, nights at the drive-in, trips to the state fair, afternoons at the children's museum...and Thursday morning we left for this place-

Thank you, thank you, thank you!

-for all the nice comments about the cover. You guys are the best!

Here's me while I was recording the radio commentaries. I think I found a middle ground on the image size.*EDITED TO ADD* DANG! I'm huge. Arrrrrrrr (as the pirates would say) I am so not techie! Working on it, sorry for my hugeness***

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

The first one is running during Morning Edition on NPR affiliate KWMU at 5:33 and 7:33 (for you St. Louisians) and anyone really desperate to hear it live (I'm referring to blood relatives who might fear being mentioned and want to get a jump on calling me to complain) can do so on the live streaming website http://www.kwmu.org/Programs/Commentaries/index.php And it will also be available after airing through podcasting.

I recorded several commentaries, most more general in topic, but this particular one is about a Route 66 custard stand called Ted Drewes that has achieved a cult-like fan base all over the country and beyond. http://www.roadtripamerica.com/eats/drewes.htm Anyone been?

And...I'm totally freaking out about having to hear it...hehe

Cover!

I know, I know. So SMALL. Okay, all you technowiz-i out there, what are my options here? The very cool border that really makes it pop didn't come out either, arrrgh.

But yay! What an amazing artist! I love it.
