Work is eating up all of my time!

Fri, Feb. 10th, 2006, 03:16 pm

I came across this Lortondale home listing and I am to tempted to tour it and put in an offer and have it fixed up to re-sell. I would have to hire 'outsiders' to do most of the labor since I will be in Austin but I think it would be worth it and fun.

I know it might be hard for some to see the beauty with all of the clutter and unattractive furniture in these pictures, but Lortondale homes are, in my opinion, little mid-century masterpieces and I see a lot of potential. It looks as though all it needs aesthetically is a little candy-coating and cleaning up.

mmm. chairs

I found a three piece living room set, sofa and two chairs, yesterday at a thrift store for a steal.

I have not taken pictures of my furniture yet, but I did find a few pictures of the chairs that I have. These chairs are almost exactly identical to mine, the only difference being the upholstery color, which will soon be changed. The sofa is just like the chairs, but wider, of course.

I am tempted to keep the chairs for myself and sell the sofa alone, although I could get at least 5x what I paid for them, not to mention the fact that more chairs are the last thing I need. My spare bedroom is already full of modern and mid-century modern chairs and a couple of credenzas.

Thank goodness for:

- good red wine
- my new kitten
- Sándor Lau's little one-hour documentary 'Behaviours of the Backpacker'.
- blogs to keep me from thinking too much tonight.

I found a tiny little orange and white kitten and an old banjo behind a dumpster at a nursery in South town.

The banjo is pretty nice, details later. And the kitten looks like a fuzzy creamsicle.

This week has been hard and sad but the kitten and banjo cheered me up.

Damn my weakness for well dressed male design addicts with nice asses who exude quiet confidence.
