Melting pot

Oct. 9th, 2006 | 10:44 pm

It's not funny when you have to be in school everyday from morning to 11pm just to do editing. I was even in school on sunday till 12pm, where I have to take a cab home.

Just for the note, I'm still in school now.

And it looks like this will carry on for the next few weeks.

It's because of this stupid worldwide project my school's involved in, where we have to edit interviews of reknown directors and editors around the world.

The most annoying thing about this is that this is the first project for our editing classes. Which basically means, most of my classmates plunge in the chilling depts of editing on a pro-level software. Fucking hell.

And we keep getting ridiculous datelines, technical probems with the hard disk (it crashed on us on the eve of our submission, wiping everything) and a high shortage of equipments because both the year 1 and year 2 have to share.

I'm very very exhausted. I know this is very much how the industry works, but it's ridiculous because I still have 2 screenplays to write, a 5k words film history essay to write, a fully colored and hand drawn storyboard to draw and my solo project which I have yet to finish editing, on top of this large annoying interview to do.

My group's the worst end of the stick, we got an editor who's rather famous and he's got 17 footages of interview which we have to watch, while the other groups only have 3 and 7 tapes respectively.

And on top of that, we are the only group that has a lot of technical issues no thanks to the large amount of footage we have, and the external disk that school provides are not optimized harddisks for film editing.

I want to scream. It's been ages since I have met up with my 3 other buddies and it's been a long time since I get the chance to return home befoe the sun sets.

Right now, there's a possiblity that we might have to work till the morning at 7am.

My group leader has already edited the video from friday evening until saturday morning, and it's insane. I'm lucky to be in group where everyone is responsible and knows how to play their role.

Heck, even the year 2s are commenting that we are spending more time in class than they did when they were in year 1.

I want my 3 months holiday.
