So more or less with this new update SE has killed off their support for mobile video cards. SE under the blanket announced that they no longer support 32~64 MB Mobile Video Cards (Radeon is a definite)
After digging through forums, peoples posts and SE support, hours of trying to see if my crashing was a FFXI file error was a waste.
Basicly if your using a mobile card, use a high resolution for game settings, your screwed.
You will be booted to desktop at the character select screen, after a few seconds in game or similiar.
After playing with this, I knocked down both resolution settings in the FFXI config to minimum and it worked, but I didnt stay on long enough to see if it would boot me. Though it does work, its visually not playable..
With a link from Gatito ( http://www.driverheaven.net/patje/ ) ive seen some comments that this has solved the problem for 'laptop' users. Does anyone else have any other solutions? Ive also heard that updating your drivers (duh) will helpout too. Ive yet to try any methods myself though, still gathering info and bout to sleep.
Honestly.. how hard is it to keep things playable when it has been working fine since release.. havent they heard of the old adage "If it aint broke, dont fix it"? It seems like in every effort of SE trying to bring players back to FFXI, all they do is drive their current customers away, ex: RNG nerf and now this crap.
Whoever the brains of the operation is, is apperintly a complete physco job.
