It has occurred to me that many people may want to know what a story is about before choosing to read it, so I thought I would create this entry to provide summaries for them. This list is only for the stories that are posted in this journal (which are listed in the Links section). You can find my other stories and drabbles at Jackfic.com or at ff.net. This list will be updated as I upload more stories. In the meantime, I hope you enjoy these offerings:
( Traycer's Fanfic )
The
jack_sara ficathon is off to a great start with plenty of stories showing up already!! *bounces* Head on over there and check it out.
I've taken a break from fandom completely, hoping that this will help me break out of my current funk, (yeah, I headed back into it again - involuntarily, I assure you), so my entry is going to be late. But it's a short fic, as in a one-shot and all ready to be typed out, so I'm hoping to write it this weekend. I've discovered that I can't stay away from fandom for too long, as I miss everyone here.
Also, I am sorry to report that I sent a message to the mod over at
tealc_ficathon earlier in June to tell her that I won't be finishing my entry any time soon. The story is still on the burner, just not cooking right at the moment.
In fact, that leads me to my worst confession: I had not written one word throughout the whole month of June!! Well, okay, I did work on my DVD commentaries (which will be finished, I swear), but those words don't count for
getyourwordsout. So yeah, I'm thinking I need to do some really serious word damage to a lot of fics in the upcoming months. :D
Oh, and before I forget,
oneprompt is off and running with its very first prompt!! It's a great prompt, guaranteed to produce an outpouring of action/adventure, cracktastic and some good old-fashioned teamy goodness fics. Go get the prompt and start writing!

Oh, and before I forget,
While glancing through my flist today, I noticed that The DVD-style Commentary on Fics meme is being bandied about, and it looked like an interesting one, so I thought I would give it a try.
Here's the listing of all my fics, pick one and I'll do a commentary for it. I'll tell you why I wrote it, what I was thinking when I wrote it, or anything else you want to know about any of the fic in my portfolio. Feel free to ask!
Now I am heading back into my flist again before I have to leave to go to the... *deep scary voice* ...Internet-less Zone.
Meep!!
I'll be back among the living tomorrow if anyone is interested in what goes on in the mind of Traycer when she and her muse decides to dance. :)

Okay, I've finally decided on the prompt I want to go with for the
jack_sara ficathon. Now all I gotta do is write the fic and get it done before July 1st. *takes deep breaths* I can do this. I know I can.
And I thought it would be a good thing to post my
getyourwordsout word count. I am so far behind it's pathetic, but I am hoping to have a great turn-around any day now. Yep. Any day now would be great.
As of yesterday, I have written a total of 46,999 words during 2009
As of yesterday, I should have written a total of 83,844 words during 2009
Let's see now, that only puts me at being 36,845 words behind my goal. Meep!!
The good news is that my spreadsheet tells me that I only need to write 721 words a day for the rest of the year in order to meet my final goal. The bad news is that there is no way I will write 721 words a day, every single day for the rest of the year. I mean, who am I kidding?
*sigh* I'm hoping I at least hit 50% of my goal by December 31st. That will be a great accomplishment, right??
Yeah, that's what I thought too.

One of the best things about fandom communities is the comeraderie of the people who gather together to squee about their TV shows, movies or books. But even better are the ficathons and challenges that inspire and entertain us. There seems to be no end of the ficathons, challenges and icon contests out there. The possibilities are endless!
And guess what? There is yet another great idea that sprung from the wells of
suzannemarie's mind. :) She took the ficathon idea and evolved it into an ongoing "promptathon", which means more fics for us every three months! Go check out
one_prompt and while you are there, make sure to leave some prompts for people to write stories for.
Hee! And I want to say that pimping is love, but that doesn't sound right, you know what I mean?? lol So instead, I'll just ask you all to pimp out this great community so that we can make sure everyone gets a chance to participate!!
Oh, and why waste a great opportunity to mention that the Jack/Sara ficathon is still taking claims. I know that I originally stated that the claiming period would end on May 31st, but I figured why not just extend it for those who were debating one way or the other on whether they wanted to write for it or not. Besides, I still haven't picked a prompt for my own contribution. I know, how horrible is that? :D
Still, I am so excited about all the authors who did claime a prompt. I just think that we need more!

Hey out there! I've been away for a bit, partly due to my internet woes, but also because I took a mini vacation (muchly deserved, if I may say so) to find some peace within myself. My life was swirling downward there for a bit, but I am feeling much better now that I've had time to heal. Much better.
My internet woes are still lurking about, but I do have a few backup plans in place now, which is nice because I have a lot of catching up to do with my flist. You all have been busy!!
And if I missed anything important, please let me know.
Of course, I am now at a point where I still have two major writing issues hanging over my head, but at least I can deal with them head on now that I am back to my normal self.
So yeah, I am now ready to tackle the
tealc_ficathon story, which is still woefully late. Teal'c gets to commune with a culture that doesn't quite meet his idea of Tau'ri lifestyles, and will hopefully learn something to boot. Mucho love for this story, if only I can write it. *g*

OMG I'm about to pass out right here on my keyboard. I am exhausted! But I wanted to share some great news.
I wrote some words!!
Yep, you heard right. :) And as an added bonus, they were applied to my Teal'c ficathon fic. Yay! Granted there were only a couple hundred words, but they were actual words. So yeah.
*is too tired to dance around in glee*
Here's hoping that I get in a lot more tomorrow!

Okay, so after a long period of going back and forth on what I want to do with my DW journal, I've decided to just keep it as a mirror of my LJ. (I know big surprise.) :) I really was going to try something different with it, but I think I will create a new journal to do the travel blog and just keep a backup of my LJ here. It's just easier that way.
And besides, I have to do something with those extra invite codes I still have.
So now I get to reload all my pic icons and go back and bring over my latest LJ posts (among other things) to get my DW journal up-to-date.
Hmm... I'm wondering if it would just be easier to do a mass delete and reload everything...

Hey there!!
I just wanted to remind everyone that we still have a ton of prompts for the Jack/Sara ficathon.
A boatload of prompts!
You know, we were only looking at 20 or so prompts when I sent out my desperate plea. I really was worried that we wouldn't have enough. But then our corner of fandom sprang up to the challenge by spreading the word, and in two days time, we managed to come up with over 150 prompts!! I cannot express how proud I am of those who came to the rescue. You guys are absolutely amazing!!
The prompts are there and I don't expect to see too many more authors claiming them, but at least we have a lot to choose from. Like many have said, I love our little corner of fandom! :)

Yeah, I know. I am so screwed up. But hey, I did get my Janet fic done for
sg_fignewton's Gen Fic Day which also happens to be serving a generous helping of Janet Alphabet Soup fics. :D
So yay! for me getting that done. I was suffering from a horrible case of writer's block. *please let this be the end of it* I have a Teal'c fic that has to be worked on pronto!
Speaking of the Teal'c fic - I failed miserably at my other two projects. The
fandom_grammar post is in the process of being worked on now, but the moderators over there decided to go with a "ready to go" entry in case I don't get mine done by tonight. And the fact that they answered a question for
aurora_novarum makes it an even better choice! :D Go check it out!
The post I was working on will show up whenever someone else misses their deadline, which may be never because those guys are really good about getting things done on time. I am in awe of their awesomeness! :)
So yeah, my schedule looks to be picking up. *crosses fingers and toes* I really do hope this means the end of that nasty old writer's block.

Well, I did it! The Master List of Prompts is up at the
jack_sara community. We got a ton of prompts and I want to thank those of you who not only left some great prompts, but also pimped out that post for me. You all are so awesome!!
Speaking of awesome!
sg_betty wrote a Teal'c fic for me over at
tealc_ficathon!! It's called Eye of the Beholder and I am anxious to sit down to read it. Hopefully tomorrow when I am more awake.
The Teal'c ficathon story that I am writing is coming along great in my mind, but I still haven't finished it. In fact, I haven't had a chance to actually type any of it out for a little over a week! It's not doing a whole lot of good sitting up there in my head. I hate that it's late, but what can I do? The muse has been scarce as of late, not to mention my RL issues. And yeah, that story is top priority on my list this weekend.
So is my Janet fic that I have to write for
sg_fignewton's Gen Fic Day on Tuesday. I had an idea on what to write about for that story when I chose my letter, but it sort of fizzled out - probably because of the muse's vacation. *grumbles at muse* I do think I can come up with something here over the next couple of days though, so I'm not too panicky at this point.
Then there is my
fandom_grammar post that is due on Monday. That thing is already written, but it needs major improvement. *I can't help it, I always think of that girl in the movie, "Desperado" whenever I say "needs major improvement". lol She cracks me up. :) *
*ahem* Anyway, I will be working on that thing this weekend as well.
This all leads up to a very stressed out human being. I know. I have no one to blame for this dilemma but myself, but surely I can whine and complain at least once. :)
And now that I've got that out of my system, it's time to get to work on the above projects. Starting in the morning though. It's 1:00 a.m. here now.

The deadline for prompt submission is coming up really soon - like this Friday (meep!!). But we really didn't get a whole lot of prompts for authors to choose from and I'm a little worried that I may have to extend the deadline.
So, I'm begging here. :) Could you go over to this post and drop off a few prompts to help us out? Please?? I would really appreciate it.
Thanks!!

Title: The Saving Grace
Author: Traycer
Rating: PG
Pairing: None
Summary: Jack and Sam are stranded in a cabin with a dying woman and her baby.
Author's Note: Written for the
jacksamfriends Ficathon. There are some really fantastic stories over there. Go check it out!!
(Please disregard my entry over there as I was in a hurry to submit it and didn't have time to let Diane do her magic with her super dooper red pen... *blush* I can't believe how many errors were in that fic.)
Anyway, huge thanks to Diane for pointing out a whole slew of mistakes so that I could post a better version everywhere else, including this journal.

So much is going on in fandom now, and I've been working diligently at trying to keep up. :)
For starters: I've opened up the prompts submission post for the
jack_sara ficathon! It would be great if you all could go over and leave some prompts. We need all the inspiration we can get.
Also, please pimp this ficathon out to your flist. The more the merrier!
I have been working on my story for the
tealc_ficathon, but it's already going to be fashionably late. It is my goal to finish it up this weekend, as I have a ton of other things to do next week - hopefully finding some time to read all the great Teal'c fic and the rest of the
jacksamfriends fics would be great too. :)
I tried
ziparumpazoo's Random User Name Id Generator, and was more than a little amused at one of the ideas that came up.
Swollensword
*snickers* Oh the implications of that one. My first thought was "Romance Writers Unite!" lol As funny as that seems, my mind immediately came up with a little story involving a Captain Swollensword roaming the universe on a starship, boldly going where no man has gone before. :) Any resemblance to a certain Captain Kirk was purely coincidental - really, I swear!
Anyway, Dreamwidth is now in open beta. I have some invite codes if anyone needs them. I still haven't come to a conclusion in terms of what to do with that journal, but I am definitely keeping this one going for the long haul. My fandom is already settled in here at LJ. So many communities and fellow fans... I like it here.

I loved Richard Dean Anderson as MacGyver, but Harrison Ford?
Oh yeah!!!!! :D
Oh yeah!!!!! :D
Been busy with a mixture of fannish and RL stuff, but if I squint, I can just see some free time lurking down the road. This is good, really. I just wish I could sit down and write the stories with deadlines that are also lurking in the shadows down that same road.
*sigh* If I can just go back and finish reading all the great fics over at the
jacksamfriends community, half the battle will be won.
Ficathon news!
sg_fignewton is once again hosting an Alphabet Soup Fic writing frenzy, and this time around we are going to be inundated with fics showcasing the lovely Dr. Janet Fraiser. *bounces* I think it may be too late to claim a letter, but if you're interested, Fig may be interested in a pinch-hitter in case someone can't write their fic on time. (I may be totally wrong, so please don't quote me on it.) And besides, this is such a popular feature of her Gen Fic Days, I'm sure she will sponsor more of these. Maybe have one focusing on Jacob, or Walter, or Siler, or even Ba'al...
Okay, so I got carried away. :) Sorry about that!
Still, I was able to get in there and pick out a letter, so that's one more fic to add on to my writing to-do list. (And we will not discuss word counts at this time, thank you very much.) lol
More news! The plot for my
tealc_ficathon story just fell in my lap as I was driving home from work yesterday! Yep. I caught it, and with a little fleshing out, I am now wanting to write that fic so bad, I can hardly stand it! I'm just worried about one little aspect of it, but for the most part - yeah. I am at least going to try to write it with some credibility. *gets all antsy just thinking about it* I think it's going to be a good one.
Time will tell if anyone else agrees with me. *g*
But you know, I may be a little late with that ficathon...

I've been playing around with layouts on Dreamwidth using the awesome layout tutorial provided by the equally awesome
thefulcrum community. It's step by step and super easy. I played around, and after 3 different tries came up with something that I really like. :) Of course, I don't know how to include my beloved banner, but that will come with time. Right now, I am just enjoying the layout I have - and the fact that I no longer have do deal with the ugly. \o/
ETA: You can see the new layout here if you are interested. :)
Fic-wise, the authors of the Jack/Sam friendship fics have been revealed, and I hope to get over there to finish reading the great stories over there. I wrote The Saving Grace, and will eventually find the time to get it in this journal. I'm thinking of waiting until it is finally betaed, but that won't happen until I get around to sending it off to my beta. *shakes head* RL should slow down here soon enough.
Also, I think it is finally safe to say that the story I posted wasn't the original one that I was writing for this ficathon. The first one was leaning toward a team fic, and I figured that I should just start over with a whole new idea versus trying to restructure the one I started. Especially since I was coming up on the deadline. :) The good news is that I should have another new fic to post here in a few weeks. :D
Because of the hectic RL, I haven't been writing as much as I want. Consequentially, my word count is still dismal. I do have January's word counts to remember fondly though, which is encouraging. At least I did it for one month. I can do it again.
But yeah, I need to spend more time writing if I plan to reach my final goal.

Things aren't going so well for me today. My car has this engine light on the dashboard that is on and just staring at me with an unblinking gaze. I have no idea what it's trying to tell me, other than something is definitely wrong with the thing, but I am now here waiting on a diagnosis. Blergh!! Not such a great start, I'm telling ya.
In other news,I have some Dreamwidth invite codes if anyone is interested. I'll send them on to the first people who respond to this entry - comments are screened as I will need your email address in order to send the codes on. :D
I haven't had a whole lot of time playing over there at Dreamwidth, but so far the only differences I noticed are the Circle of Friends feature (which is kind of nice) and the lack of ads (which is a lot nice, although I have a permanent account here, so I wasn't getting them anyway). Still, DW is a great opportunity to start in on the ground floor of a new journaling community, so I'm definitely going to try to stay involved.
If nothing else, I like the fact that my LJ is backed up somewhere other than my hard drive. :)
With that said, does anyone know if I can have my personal journal over there too? I know they are limiting the number of accounts, so I wasn't sure if I was being too greedy or what. I'll unscreen any of these responses (if I get any, that is) in case someone else wants to know.

I am finally getting settled in over at Dreamwidth. I've imported my LJ and was pleased to see that everything still works they way they should, including the private and filtered entries. Of course, I am going to have to repopulate the filtered entries (I only have the Original Fic filter, so it won't be a problem to add those who want to be on it - if and when they show up on DW). Still, I am finally ready to mirror my journals, which seems like a great idea in this day and age.
I am not leaving LiveJournal. I love the communities and friends I have over there. And like Jack O'Neill, "I don't leave my people behind". :D Okay, so that was lame, but I couldn't help but use it. Hee! LJ is my home, and I'll hang out there until everyone else leaves me behind.
Ficathon news! I actually got my
jacksamfriends story done on time. Yay me! It's a little rough, and totally marked as mine (sorry mods - old habits die hard), but I did it. Go check out all the fantastic stories over there. I haven't read them all, but the ones I did get to are absolutely great!!
Now I get to focus on my
tealc_ficathon story, which by the way just happens to be the one I asked for in my prompt. Yeah. I was given a prompt from someone who asked for the same thing I asked for. That and the fact that the new prompt also has an aspect that I specifically said I wouldn't write, had pretty much upset me when I first received it. *blushes at the way I reacted* I have since decided to go with the flow and write it.
Oh, and I have been working on the rules and timeline for the
jack_sara ficathon. Yay!! "D I'm not really sure what I am doing, and I will inevitably screw up, but I still hope to get the information entry posted sometime this week. I'm thinking to start taking prompts starting the end of this month through the beginning of May, then revealing said prompts by May 15th and the fics due by August 1.
So yeah! Let the fun begin. :)
