Oh gosh, Im secretly so glad I'm leaving!
Who cares about djs or whether r kelly is good dance music. i'm all about these drawings/paintings i did today. and nothing else. Tomorrow I'm going to do laundry and try and get my VISA back, buy an English French dictionary.
PS mr muffins is really sick, please pray for him! also, I wanted to seduce this tall girl in a striped shirt tonight, I am gayer than I/you thought.
Except he's lost a lot of weight since then and only sleeps in my closet and eats wet food.

South America is lo-fi. It is strange to be so tall, so white, so gringa. Daniela is a normal height and I am an amazon. Santiago is so beautiful and old. I wonder if this is what Europe is like, but with more money. Don´t tell, but I am excited about going home and drinking cream and eating butter and having my own bedroom. But not so that I am not enjoying everything here. The British boy next to me at the internet cafe is telling his girlfriend about graphic novels and what black dresses to bring over the phone. He looks like Malcolm McDowell. Daniela is talking to her boyfriend downstairs.¨´Who the fuck is Barbara!?´ Okay okay okay bye. |

Today we are taking a train to Concepcion, in the South. Until now we have been in Santiago, at Tio Lucho´s for the past few days. Tio Lucho´s name is Luis, like me. Last night I wore a Chilean cowboy hat and my nueva alpaca sweater and Daniela took a secret video of me dancing with Tio Lucho. Sometimes I get flustered and mix French with my Spanish, and sometimes people speak to me too quickly and I understand nothing. Yesterday we went to Valparaiso though, which was amazing. It looks a lot like San Francisco, big, old, brightly coloured buildings, starting to crumble, and built on a hill next to the ocean. We are trying to extend our trip, and if this works out we can return to beautiful Valparaiso. The people of Valparaiso are even called ´Panchos´, the nickname of ´Francisco´. Last night we met more of the family and they took us out to the local pub, which is called OttoFritz, and Pati fed me lamb when we got back because I was starving. Pati´s boyfriend is a graffiti artist and there are stencils of her beautiful face around Santiago. Everyone is so affectionate here and men and women dance farther apart and more reserved and you get to feel everyone´s cheeks when you greet them, smooth or stubbly. Have to go now, will write later. |

It is 11.30 and I haven't started packing yet. We have to be at the airport by 11 tomorrow morning. I just got home from Espe's where I was cutting her hair and borrowing books for my trip. And as for my list of things to do today, I can cross off buying a sketchbook, doing laundry, buying miniature toiletries, receiving another dead animal offering from cat-cat, and buying (5 rolls) of film. If I got excited about things, I'm sure I would be excited. When I was leaving Espe's she admitted that she was more excited about me reading those books than my trip, but I kind of feel the same way. And drawing on the plane. |

School is done. Today I put in my two weeks at work, tried to book a flight to Chile, and bought a bunch of used books. I bought one book for the trip and four for when I get back. V Woolf and graphic novels are bad things to take on trips. Currently I am packing for Lake Tahoe and listening to Jesus Christ Superstar, which is actually all I've listened to for the last week.
Should I bring watercolours? manual camera? felts? moccasins? I am not taking a suitcase, or jacket. |

As soon as Daniela gets her passport I am quitting my job so we can go to SOUTH AMERICA. Yes. Also I'm doing stone lithography, the sexiest of all print medias. I feel like I saw hundreds of couples kissing on the way to school tonight. Last night a bicycle gang ascended up Kingsway around midnight, thus marking the beginning of spring. Tonight I ate dinner with Aletheia and her roommates on their porch. It is all happening in 2009
