I'm reading True Grit at the moment...well, I say 'reading', but I yummed it up yesterday....and it started me thinking about other books I have wolfed down in a day while wearing a big, fat grin on my face.

Woe To Live On. You should probably read everything by Daniel Woodrell, but start with this or The Death Of Sweet Mister.

Swag is a great place to start an Elmore Leonard education.

George Saunders is a cracking writer. His short stories are hilarious, sad and scary and you'll eat him up. Doesn't matter whether you start with Pastoralia or the earlier collection Civilwarland In Bad Decline. They're both stunning collections.

Anyone got any other books that fit the bill? Always like to get a tip...
