I love comics. Love, love, love 'em. Leeeeurve 'em. Disney comics made learning to read an imperative when I was but a newt, and I remain grateful for the favour. Here's a few of my favourites. Stray Bullets is the business. Like Tarantino before he went mad and made films that went on forever and starred the worst actors in the world. Ghost World is so much better than the film it became (who was looking for a live action 'Daria'?). You'll start to get nervous a few pages into The Frank Book. Jim Woodring combines a cartoony approach with dark intent, and the result is a troubling one. Yes. Troubling. I keep trying to write to Tony Millionaire, the man responsible for Maakies but it's not that satisfying as all I get in return are one-word e-mails like "Thanks" and "No". I mean, doesn't he know who I am? The lowest comedy married to exquisite draftmanship, which somehow makes it even funnier. More to come!
