Bush says "internets"
Ahhhhhh-hahahahahahahahahahahahahhaaaaaaaaaaa!!!

"Thirdly, back to your question. You thought I was kind of doing one of these -- (laughter) -- Washington, D.C. dodges. (Laughter.) I talk to a lot of families who have got a loved one in Iraq or Afghanistan, or anywhere else in this global war on terror, and they are in constant communication with their loved one. That's amazing, isn't it. You've got a kid in Iraq who is emailing mom daily, talking about the realities of what he or she sees. Information is moving -- you know, nightly news is one way, of course, but it's also moving through the blogosphere and through the Internets. It's amazing how many emails I see from people that are writing in what they think and what they hear."

My other favourite thing about this quote is the idea that soldiers on the ground IN IRAQ are writing letters to their Moms that "talk about the realities of what he or she sees". Right, because that's what we all like to do in letters to our mothers. We want to give them the full, unvarnished truth because we enjoy scaring the fucking shit out of them. I bet you a million dollars that the only Army letters Cheney allows Bush to see are the letters to the mothers.

Fun competition! Write a short version of the kind of letter Bush is talking about. Or even just a line from it.("Mom! Great news! They're extending my tour by a month!")

Winner gets a mention in the commentary of the DVD of 'It Crowd' series 2. The mention will be in the manner of my choosing; it won't be anything bad but it won't be the truth.

Don't just fire off the first thing that enters your head! Shape it, baby!

"Remember that aching pain I used to get in my left leg? Well, I don't want to go into detail in a letter, but I'm pretty sure I'll never have that problem again. Oh, and you can throw out half my shoes before I get back."

"You know, I'm so happy that I get the chance to be "all that I can be" for several more unexpected months! I mean, how many chances will I get to spend this kind of quality time with my buddies in a place of such significant historical importance? I figure people are wondering when I'll get home, but you just tell him that I'm making an important delivery: Democracy, with a big old helping of Freedom."

I stayed home yesterday with a sore tummy (I wish you could give me a tummy rub!) while the rest of the division went to play frisbee with a metal disc they found. Anyway they've made me head of my division. Send more peanut butter!

Mission Accomplised! We're just in the process of quelling the odd insurgent but otherwise it's pretty much text-book peacekeeping. Send my love to the rest of the family."

"The Iraqis have welcomed us with open arms. Well, arms at least. The boys were all excited to hear that you saw us on TV, Dwayne especially (he was the one pointing at that fella's penis). We have had a good week with over twenty neutralizations of combatants, and not all of them were British. The guys want everyone back home to know we are firmly behind the President; he's the man who put the surge in insurgency!"

Dear Mom,

This morning fear hit me like a spade in the nuts. I can't think any more, my mind is a hellstorm of noise, sand and sick. The boy who left you will not be coming home, the boy who left you left me when I spunked my magazine into the crowd, the faceless crowd! Weather is nice, hope Dad and Eustace are well.

Dear Mom, working as a prison warden is very different to home- but we still get time to have a little fun, American style! Yesterday we found a bunch of bored inmates and we had a great little game of twister, the lads loved it. I’ve enclosed some photos, so you can see how happy we are! Perhaps tomorrow we’ll have a little fun with electricity…

Er, as far as I can gather, this...

...is not an official video for a Depeche Mode toon - and it might just be a viral. Or it might just probably be one in a million would-be production houses trying to wedge their way 'in'.

But it's good to watch. Anyway.

Er, this has nothing to do with me - I'm going to 'bum' my way in!
