Well, you only had to ask...
Man hacks 'IT Crowd' subtitles to discover that they're subtitles.

When you present something like that to a bona fide hacker they won't be able to resist. When I lived in Silicon Valley in the late 90's I remember doing something similar (albeit trivial compared to this!) with fellow geeks for Toy Story. Toy Story was the first feature length 3D animated film and the whole Bay Area was in a frenzy waiting for it to be released on DVD - it being arguably one of the first Hollywood movies where geeks where just as important as traditional artisans like the writers, animators etc. One section of Toy Story featured a mangled doll, I think it had its lips sewed shut, tapping out morse code to the rest of the toys. It took about 5 seconds of sideways glances before we were on the floor scribbling down the morse code to figure out the message. Strangely I can not find out the answer on google but I'm pretty sure it was 'lasseter' - referring to John Lessater the director of the movie.

Hmm maybe it's time I looked for patterns in PI again.....
