ninety seven is my number, it's my life, it's my disease....
it's what i strive for, what i die for, what i can achieve....
but sometimes it's not enough to keep, to let slip by....
it's a ribbon through my fingers slipping up into the sky....
they don't know I've got it, and i try never to flaunt it....
I hide under the layers, so big, too big, nothing fits....
not the way it should, instead it's always summer....
it's always hot and thirsty and tired and bright....
it's always too heavy and sleepy and yet here i am....
it's always four in the morning and a fight....
who's to say i never tried to be okay....
who's to say i wanted things to be this way....
all i'm asking for is to stay the same....
to be ninety seven and not ashamed....
