A little intro info, you can skip to the question if you'd like. :) :: I'm nineteen and in the past year and a half, my family finally moved into a home we own, therefore we can do whatever we want to it! This leads to my room, which I have been forever dreaming about. Since I moved here, I've been obsessed with the idea of building a storage area (my room was previously a small living room - including a large window - but a temporary wall was built to complete the fourth wall to the room, so there isn't a closet, and since I've moved I've also been anti-furniture) I know it seems silly, but the idea in my head will be amazing, and I can't wait to complete it. I'm currently building the storage area, but I have some questions, more about the general room than the storage.
Question:: I love a hippie, folk, trendy, bohemian, cozy etc etc feel to rooms. I was just curious, what are your favorite rooms that have a similar feel?
I can't wait to start decorating. I just don't want to feel like I might run out of ideas! I'd rather run out of space! Thank you!
ps. The intro info had a purpose! I hope to eventually share photos of my masterpiece when it's finished. :)

| HELP: wall color. |
[21 Aug 2008|12:21am] |
Hello. I'm looking for some ideas when it comes to color schemes. I am moving into my apartment next week and I'd like to paint the walls of my room since it's a little drab. The only thing is, I'm having a hard time deciding what color(s) will go good with this bedding. I do like bright colors, but I'd like something calmer and more grown up compared to my current room. I apologize for not having pictures of my upcoming room, but it's definitely smaller with higher ceilings. I would really like to turn it into something cozy and chic since I will probably be spending a lot of time there.
Also, if any of you guys have this bedding (or something similar) and could post pictures, that'd be great!

| warm or boho |
[20 Aug 2008|04:51pm] |
Hey guys! I'm Emma! I plan to post some pictures of my room here soon, but for right now I have a situation that warrants some help!
I'm a senior in high school, and after lots of thought I think I've decided to go to a Junior College before I head off to a four year university (hopefully Berkeley).
Therefore, since I will be in my room 3 more years, I'm kind of sick of the cold purple.
I'm looking for pictures of "warm" rooms that have a autumn-ish color scheme.
Or Boho-Hippie Chic (no tye-dye) Bedrooms.
Pictures of full rooms, accessories, or ideas would be wonderful.

I moved into my apartment a few weeks ago and am in the process of decorating. However, I have two issues. Firstly, there is a plant hook on the ceiling that was left from the last people and I'd like to use it, but don't want to put a plant there. Any suggestions or pictures would be great. Secondly, do any of you have any pictures of cheap ways to decorate HUGE walls without making them look too overdone?

| In my own voice I will now speak to you. |

Who needs a boyfriend when I've got audible.com? Shalom Auslander, David Sedaris and David Rakoff all keep me company while I'm waiting for the bus, sewing by my window, or cooking dinner. I finished Foreskins Lament this evening and nearly cried. It was a beautiful book and I loved it more than I did Beware of God.
I can never read one book at a time. Currently, I'm in the middle of: -- An Invisible Sign of my Own by Aimee Bender, which I've read before. My friend Jenna recommended this book to me because she thought that her writing sounded like my internal dialogue. I've never eaten soap or thought about cutting my own leg off, but I do have a habit of knocking on myself and objects! -- Nobody Better, Better than Nobody by Ian Frazier. I LOVE IAN FRAZIER. He is, hands down, my most favorite writer. I could read Great Plains over and over until the end of time. This man makes the most mundane subjects (like fly fishing and Hints from Heloise) utterly facinating. -- The Self Healing Cookbook: a Macrobiotic Primer by Kristina Turner. This book is really adorable and easy to understand. Some macrobiotic books I've checked out have been either really hippy dippy or too scientific. This one is very conversational and is filled with the artist's doodles of tea and vegetables. Also, she has little charts that say "If you feel like this... and you want to feel like this ... you should eat this!" -- Raw: The Uncook Book by Juliano. Last, but not least, is a raw uncook book. I love looking at cookbooks while I eat. Since I'm doing a "raw before dinner" type of diet right now this book is helping me visualize all the things I can do with raw. I think that for my body and lifestyle that I will always tend towards a more macrobiotic way of eating, but this book stokes my imagination.

I remember someone mentioning something about old books for sale, and found a few that would work really well for scrapbooking. Take a look?
But that's not the point! I've been busy and lately ripped paper mosaics have been entertaining me.

That's it! I'm moving to Europe! I speak French! I can speak some Italian, German, and Russian! I can get around! I am self-sufficient! I am a fully-capable human being! And I want to live a bourgeois life of luxury like Gerald and Sara Murphy and champion the Next Lost Generation! Sorry, everyone! I've let you down. I can't do this being broke thing much longer. I am going to marry a dashing and rich Frenchman and we will have a villa on the Riviera which I will decorate with Berlin Secessionist paintings. Either that, or I will be running away to Mexico because I can't afford to pay my electric bill.

| Friend Book |
[20 Aug 2008|06:39pm] |
So when I was cleaning up my room the other day I decided to make a book about my friend and I. She always sends me text messages saying "let's sail away." I'm not sure how many other people will get what the pages are about, but I know she will.
My conundrums: the book is already falling apart. I'm not that worried about it, I wasn't expecting it to stay together forever or even for a week. It's suppose to look as sloppy as possible. Also, I won't be able to give it to her finished. It's about 50 to 52 pages long. I was planning on covering half of them, and then letting her finish the book from her POV. Anyways, I've only finished 8 pages.
I don't know why I'm saying all this. I just thought you guys would be interested; seeing as how that's what this community is for.
( that's the cover, these are the pages: )
Oh. One question. Sort of. Do you guys know if Kinkos (or other stores like Kinkos) will make copies of copyrighted material? For instances, I want to make copies of the photos in the book Truffaut by Truffaut. Or do they usually not look at what you're copying. And what are their policies on printing?

Hello, I'm a twenty-something student. 2 years ago I've moved out of my parents house into my very own flat with literary nothing but my closet full of clothes. The rest was racked up through the years. It's still a bit plain on the walls, but I'm trying to set some nerd-ish course. ;p

Would anyone be interested in buying a brand new RED 2009 Moleskine weekly planner? I bought it yesterday thinking it was an 18 month but when I opened discovered it was not. I paid $20 for it but I'll let it go for $18 (shipping included) since it's brand new. I figured one of you guys would like it.
( I've also done another page in my journal. )

we don't know how, or when the second moon vanished just knew that it did. the first moon eclipses, leaving behind a rough cough sanitarium stains some mop in the corner, ah! hospital smells. panting comes from the speakers squirrels in elevators, mimicking the dragging of chairs on ceilings. sanitarium strains skirted figures from behind the mirror room teasing upskirts from the graveyard view a procession of patients going by, shouting commands. they made the animals wear masks and from their mouths came forth sounds of wrong poultry.

Hello! My name is Olga and I currently live in Ontario, Canada.
Just a few weeks ago I decided to finally give my bedroom a make over. For more than three years I was stuck with disgusting orange walls and too much clutter. My room did not represent my personality at all. After weeks of blood and sweat (literally), this is what I came up with:
