O_O  Guys... THIS.  This is my life.

Summarized perfectly by a Tumblr meme.

It's SCIENCE!

This is the kind of thing that might be more fitting as a tweet than an lj entry... but dude, I had to share.

Here's what I just heard as part of an evening news promo:

Female Newscaster: Shaking what they've got — to prove a theory wrong...
Male Newscaster: Why supporters say scantily-clothed women do not cause earthquakes.

O.o

I can't decide whether I love or hate Andy Dick right now.  I'm watching the 2006 Comedy Central Roast of William Shatner (which is overall hilarious, let me just say), and Andy's one of the roasters... and he's been giving off some very mixed signals in terms of his likability.

In the minus column:

annoying things Andy Dick did during the roastCollapse )

On the other hand, in the plus column:

hilarious/awesome things Andy Dick did during the roastCollapse )

So... I'm conflicted, here.  On the one hand, the homophobic-seeming stuff makes it a lot harder to enjoy his otherwise brilliant tribute to the cornerstone of slash.  I mean, for goodness sake, how are you going to make gay jokes about others when you can't take one yourself?  But on the other hand... MPREG AND GARY STU REFERENCES!  Dude, come on.  How do I not love a guy for that?

Of course, the licking was probably more WTF than anything else.  But I was still quite amused by it.  So, I dunno.

A few side notes:

* Betty White is a dirty little old lady... and I love it.  How did I never know this about her?
* I also didn't realize George Takei had such a sexy voice.  I mean, physically, he's so not my type; but... yum.
* Did you guys know Shatner was the guy in that Twilight Zone episode where there's something on the wing of the plane?  I totally didn't.  O.o

In the process of my writing up another post, the lovely jedipirate has decided to play thesaurus fairy and help me find a word that basically means "to make a royal mess of something" (...which is a phrase I might actually use instead, come to think of it).  During this brave endeavor we have discovered two things:

1. One synonym for "blunder" is "boner."  (Which I already knew, thanks to SuperDickery.com; or you can read it here, without the ads.)¹

2. Another synonym for "blunder" is "boo-boo."  Which presumably means that "boner" and "boo-boo" are in fact also synonyms.

jedipirate: Considering both of those, it gives whole new meaning to "let me kiss your boo-boo."  *cough*
supes_: *cracks up*
supes_: ...i kinda want to post about this, now.
jedipirate: lol... of course you do.

And yes, I do believe that was worthy of its own lj entry.

Good night, folks!

¹ And according to this, the word "boner" actually became slang for an erection around the same time/shortly after this comic was printed.  Coincidence?  I ask you.²

² Of course, I was a little torn between the icon I'm posting with — which doesn't get nearly enough use — and my horribly inappropriate "Bale's Dilemma" Joker icon.  Because honestly, how could I not think of that video?  Most of you have probably seen it, but if you're one of the few who hasn't: GO WATCH.  It's... terrible, but also brilliant.  That's about the only way I know to describe it.

TA-DA!

I think traditionally, when you haven't posted in numerous decades or so, the thing to do is to return with something dramatic and deeply meaningful.  Or at least an explanation of what rock you've been hiding under.  This, dear f'list... is not one of those.

I do have a brand new apartment, and some new monez, oh, and I might have OCPD.  I don't feel much like posting about any of those things, however (though, if you absolutely must know, do feel free to ask).  See... one thing I've realized is that posting about stuff that bores you to post about just so you have something to write is not the answer.  And another thing is this: if one's journal is to be kept active, when you see something you do want to post about, filing it away for later is also not the way to go.  Especially when posting it would only take a few minutes of your time.

I'm going to basically try to live by this notion from now on.  Will it work?  Will I give up after a week?  No idea.  But here's to giving it the old college try.

—Whew.  That was a lot of pointless babble.  Not that I haven't done worse in the past, I'm sure.

Anyway.  This Deathly Hallows prediction survey is a bit dated at this point, obviously.  But the answers crack me up, so I'm linking to it.  Hopefully at least one other person will get a kick out of it as well. :P

By the way, I do plan on getting back into fanart soon, fingers crossed.  And maybe (maybe) even fic.  So if the above post bored you to tears, at least you might have that to look forward to.

A Conversation

So, last night, with no one being online, I had attempted to get a bit of work done on my somewhat slow-moving kinda_lush project.  Unfortunately — thanks to a roleplay that left off at a rather tense point — my inner Sirius decided to make it quite impossible for me to concentrate.  It went a bit like this:

Supes:  *tries to focus on her work*
Supes:  *instead, is distracted by rather vivid thoughts of what a certain teenage boy would like to do to another teenage boy*
Supes:  *...then more thoughts of what said boy might like the other boy to do to him*
Supes:  *...and all sorts of other wonderful yet highly distracting mental imagery*

An Hour:  *goes by*  (Keep in mind, I was also watching House)

Supes:  ...Ok, cut it out!  I need to work; I can't just sit here thinking about you and Snape shagging all night!
Sirius:  Mmmm... me and Snape shagging all night...

Needless to say, I blame jedipirate entirely for this — it's her fault I started thinking of my versions of the characters as separate entities in the first place.  Darn you, Jedi! *shakes fist*
Also... me and Sirius miss you, when are you coming home? *wibble*

Woo!!  Made it before 12 1 (just barely)!  Alright, well, here's that third installment:

Well, I almost made it before noon this time (ha ha, by three hours).  Points for trying, right?  And hey, maybe I'm crazy to think earlier posts are any more likely to get read than later ones...  Well, anyway.  Here's that second batch:

BtVS Beta Search

C'mon, f'list, I need your help!

I'm trying to help moshi find a beta reader for her B/S ficlet (and y'all know, when a good writer from one fandom wants to start spreading their talent to another fandom, how important it is to encourage that).  So, come on — I know there's at least several of you who are Buffy fans, surely somebody should be able to help out!

It's fairly short (only about 800 words), set in season 6, and rated R.  Any takers?

ETA: Found someone. :)

Meanwhile, I am very amused by this page which lists some weird and often archaic sex-related laws in various parts of the United States.  Does it make me a perv that I find this funny?

Best.  RPG summary.  Evar.

Hogwarts in Spaaaace!

an accident triggered in the dungeon of Hogwarts castle launched every last wizarding school on earth into the outer reaches of the universe.Yeah, they're still puzzling out the whys of that one, but it seems to have something to do with a fail safe that's gone a bit awry. In the meantime, the students are facing trials they never thought they'd have to face before. Between the aliens and the meteor showers, a brief tripthrough time has even altered many peoples' ages. In fact, the rift inspace-time has altered things so much, that people are returning from the dead.

Oh my.  So, so much crack.  Almost makes me want to join...

So.  I didn't have time to participate in any of the Valentine's fandom stuff this year (though, I'll admit to wanting to), but dorkdance was having a last-minute anti-Valentine's Day challenge, so I thought I'd do that instead.  Pseudo-nonconformity is always fun, right? :P

The challenge is still going, by the way, and will stay open 'til whenever.  So please do feel free to participate and pimp it in your own journals!

As for me... I can't say that I'm 100% against Valentine's Day (being a dorky romantic at heart), but holidays in general tend to annoy me some.  Besides, I definitely agree with dorkdance's sentiment that having just one day designated for romance is rather lame.  And so is all the angsting we're encouraged go through if we don't have dates.

Thus, Art!  But first, a couple of unofficial notes:

1. This was meant to be just an offhand doodle.  Yeah... that didn't exactly happen.  I tried, I swear, but I think this may be as offhand as I get.

2. I was also going to add some gory blood-splatter and such.  That, too, didn't happen.  Mostly because by the time I finished the main drawing, I was afraid anything more might ruin it.

3. Oh, and there's lyrics.  I'm just horribly lame, I'm sure. *g*

Title: A Little Too Literal
Fandom: Harry Potter
Subject: Snape/Black, sort of.  Sirius comes back as Cupid to, uh... claim Snape's heart.
Rating: PG-13/R-ish

Disclaimer #1: They belong to JKR.  And even she's not this mean to them, usually.
Disclaimer #2: Despite the cartoon style used, Sirius is in his 30s and not intended to appear otherwise.  Any perception to the contrary is purely coincidental and out of my control.
Notes: Drawn for dorkdance's Really Last-Minute VD Challenge.  (Psst!  Go submit something!)
Warning: Dark humor, implied death (or heavy injury).  Partial nudity.

Three Pieces of Random

young sirius, sirius, gary as sirius, sirius black, slut!sirius
In no particular order...

1. This is just a small thing, but it made me laugh. Two days ago, I was at the mall shopping for fall/winter clothing, and I saw a teeshirt with the words "my heart belongs to you-know-who." That is SO much more amusing if you're a Harry Potter fan... *giggle*

2. This week's How I Met Your Mother was a Halloween episode, and one of the main characters was dressed up as Jack Sparrow. Only, the weird part was, every single person on the show treated it like a generic pirate costume — no one seemed to know it was a specific movie character. I mean, granted, Pirates of the Caribbean was a while ago... but, come on! This was a big Hollywood movie; it's Johnny Depp, for heaven's sake. That's almost like someone putting on pointy ears, a long blond wig with braids on the sides, and slinging a bow over their shoulder, and nobody (including the person wearing the costume) knows who they're supposed to be. To a PotC fan, it was... very surreal. To say the least.

3. Another thing that's surreal? My dad... has a livejournal. Ok, so it's only to read and comment (or maybe even just read), so he's hasn't posted anything — at least to my knowledge. And he only got it because this big Russian political guy whom he supports has an lj to post updates of his career... But it's still very weird. I'm not sure my dad even completely understands what LJ is or how it works. And frankly, I'm rather afraid to explain it to him. Because, honestly? ...Well, it's like what George Costanza said to his mother in that Seinfeld episode: "You're not out there! You can't be, because I am out there. And if I see you out there, there's not enough voltage in this world to electroshock me back into coherence!"

Spiderific orange juice. Yum!

silly, funny (2), lolcat, mbm: basic
There was a tiny spider in my morning OJ yesterday. Lovely, isn't it? I really don't know how it got there, whether it fell in or what, but I'm pretty sure I'm gonna be grossed out for a while now. *shudder*

On a completely non-related note... m_annalore gave me this link. It's cute, and pretty funny if you like semi-dark humor. Not for the easily offended, though.
