ART: Grief (lineart) (James/Sirius, NC-17)

Well, it's been a long time coming... but I finally have art for you.  I actually started this months ago, but had to put it off due to numerous RL demands; it's not technically done yet, since there is a colored version I'm still working on.  I hope to put that up within the next few weeks — whenever I have time to finish it.  But I've decided that I like the lineart so much, it deserves a separate post.

I know it's been a while, but in light of LJ's newly lifted restrictions, I definitely plan to be drawing and posting more.  For now... here's what may hopefully be the first of many:

Unofficial notes:

1. This is a [now extremely] late birthday present for the lovely moshi.  Of course, as Mosh no longer follows her livejournal, I suppose I'll have to poke her about it on IJ eventually... probably once the final is done and posted.

2. The pencil version of this is a lot messier than usual.  See, originally it was meant to be a draft that I would retrace cleanly on another piece of paper; but once I started adding detail, it came out so nice that I was afraid redrawing might ruin it.  ...My official story is that the rough, grungy quality is all to go with the mood of the piece — which I guess actually fits.  Do I get to call that a happy accident?

3. Man, I need more practice (and possibly another figure drawing class).  The anatomy for this was a bitch, even with references.  But hey... maybe that thought can encourage me to draw more. &&&

4. Come to think of it, I'll make y'all a deal: anyone who leaves feedback can suggest something they'd like to see me to draw.  I'll choose two to four out of the first ten suggestions.  Within reason; meaning, if it's been a couple weeks and only five requests have been made, I'll just pick from those.

The only rules are: A) it must be fannish, and B) it must be something I'm familiar with (my main fandoms are HP, Metalocalypse, Oz, PotC, Buffyverse, and Good Omens; but I'll consider others).  I'd also stay away from animals and very minor characters, since neither are my forte — but that is up to you.

5. I am actually more pleased with this than I anticipated.  I especially like how Sirius's hair came out.  It wasn't intentional, but it reminds me a lot of how lizardspots draws hair, which I've always admired.

6. I really like the look of the red coloration I did on this.  I do believe I'll be using that again.

7. Most of you probably don't know this, but partially-clothed!sex is a big kink for me.  I'm sure there's something wrong with finding your own work sexy, but... mmm.

8. ...Huh.  I thought I was getting too rambly with this.  But apparently I've been a lot ramblier in the past.  Self-conscious much?

Title: N/A; lineart for "Grief"
Fandom: Harry Potter
Subject: James/Sirius
Rating: NC-17 for sex and partial nudity
Medium: Rough pencil sketch, cleaned up in Photoshop.  References used.
Disclaimer: James Potter, Sirius Black, and the HP universe belong to J. K. Rowling.  This art is not intended for underaged viewing.
Warning: NWS; angst, dubious consent... man!tears.
Notes: I like to think there is a backstory here.  My version goes something like this:

James and Sirius fooled around back at Hogwarts, mostly as a way for James to deal with anger or stress, and to relieve the frustration of a certain redhead rebuffing his advances.  Then said redhead finally went out with him, and that was that.  Years later, on one fateful All Hallows' Eve, a bored James Potter comes out of hiding for one night to run a secret order mission with his best friend... or possibly just sneak out for a pint.  When he comes home, he finds his baby boy scarred and his wife killed by Voldemort.  Sick with grief, blinded by anger and helplessness, James turns to the one thing he knows in times like this.

...Of course, that's not set in stone; it's just one possibility.  Interpret this as you will, basically.
